I’d love to see this here in the UK 🇬🇧
Imagine driving down a dark road and seeing the lane markings glowing right in front of you. 🌙🛣️
In Australia, companies including Tarmac Linemarking and OmniGrip helped trial photoluminescent road markings in Victoria. The special markings absorb light during the day and then glow after dark, making road lines easier for drivers to see at night.
The idea was especially promising for poorly lit rural roads, where improved visibility could potentially help drivers navigate curves and lanes more safely.
However, the project remained a trial rather than becoming standard across Australian highways. After evaluating the technology, authorities decided not to proceed with a broader rollout because there wasn’t enough evidence of significant safety benefits.
Still, the experiment offered a fascinating look at how innovative technology could shape the roads of the future. 🚗✨
