Confidence is high but maintenance is low.

Can you believe it’s already been a 2 weeks since the Great Big Small Awards?

The William Street Motor Services team had a fantastic evening at The Business Hive Great Big Small Awards last Friday, where we were very proud to be finalists in two categories.

William Street Motor Services was shortlisted for the Clicks & Mortar Award, recognising the work we’ve been doing to develop the business and our online presence.

We were also incredibly proud to see our Apprentice Technician, Jack Watson, named as a finalist for the Inspiring Employee Award, recognising the progress he is making as he continues his apprenticeship and develops his career with us.

We may not have brought home an award this time, but being shortlisted in both categories was something the whole team was very proud of.

A big thank you to The Business Hive for a brilliant evening, and congratulations to all the winners and finalists.

Some vehicle repairs require access to security-related information held by the manufacturer. This can include work involving immobilisers, key programming and certain security-related electronic systems.

William Street Motor Services is now SERMI accredited, giving our authorised technicians a secure, recognised route to access this information from participating vehicle manufacturers when it is required for eligible work.

What does that mean for you?

In some circumstances, it means you can continue to use an independent garage, such as William Street Motor Services for work that requires access to protected manufacturer information, rather than automatically having to visit a franchised main dealer.

SERMI doesn't apply to every repair or vehicle manufacturer, but it is another important capability for our workshop as vehicles become increasingly reliant on software and electronically controlled systems.

We've explained what SERMI accreditation means, when it might be relevant to your vehicle and the checks involved in our latest article.

You can normally use an independent garage to service a Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Škoda or CUPRA under warranty. The garage must follow the correct schedule, use suitable parts and fluids, and keep accurate records.

Meet the Team: Richard

Richard has worked in the motor industry since 2007 and brings experience from almost every area of a dealership, including service, parts, sales and bodyshop operations.

Before joining William Street Motor Services, he worked with Suzuki, BMW and Toyota, including four years managing Toyota service and bodyshop departments.

Customer service has been a major part of Richard’s career, with his Toyota team receiving national and European recognition for the standards they delivered.

That experience now supports his role at William Street Motor Services, where his knowledge of workshop control and customer service helps keep things running smoothly for both customers and the team.
