THE BIG REVEAL! 🦁🔥
Here is exactly what went down at the shop:

We know we’ve been stringing you along with snippets and teasers of what’s been going on in the garage, but the secret is finally out!

Hands up: who remembers the Lotus Carlton "jigsaw puzzle" that was advertised all over Facebook and eBay? The one that looked like a total barn find with the entire rear end stripped off?

Well, we have fabulous news. She was rescued by a true gentleman who has completely fallen in love with the Lotus Carlton lifestyle (can you blame him?!). Her new owner has done an absolutely outstanding job getting her roadworthy, including some incredible restoration work on the underside.

Before hitting the tarmac for some serious summer road trips, he made the sensible decision to bring her to us to go through the engine bay, tidy things up, and make sure she was 100% ready after 16 years in storage.

The Engine Bay & Rebuild 🔧

▪️Head & Gasket: Old head gasket removed and upgraded to a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) replacement, clamped down with brand-new ARP head studs.

▪️Cooling & Seals: Installed a new water pump, fresh gaskets for the engine, exhaust, and intake manifolds.

▪️The Aesthetics: Everything got a serious scrub. Components and manifolds were cleaned, sandblasted back to bare metal, and then painted, ceramic coated, or zinc plated accordingly. All hoses were reconditioned and finished with fresh zinc hardware and jubilee clips.

The Twin Turbo Overhaul 🐌💨
Upon inspection, both turbos were found to be leaking on the compressor side. We fully stripped them down, cleaned every component, and ceramic-coated the housings. During the rebuild, the degraded originals were upgraded to brand-new billet aluminium compressor wheels.

Chassis, Braking & Underside 📐

▪️Replaced some very "interestingly" plumbed brake lines (a standard feature from the car's previous life!).

▪️Fitted a fully refurbished and powder-coated front subframe (supplied by the customer), paired with two brand-new control arms engineered in-house to OEM spec.

▪️Installed new drop links, a freshly powder-coated anti-roll bar, and all-new zinc hardware.

▪️Installed and set up the self-levelling suspension, fabricated custom heat shields (turbo, exhaust, and engine mount), and gave the exhaust tips a fresh paint job to restore that factory OEM look.

▪️Topped it all off with a fresh coolant expansion tank, V-belt, spark plugs, filters, a thorough radiator flush, and a fresh oil change.

The Result: Back on the Road 🏁
The grand finale? We took her for an MOT—her very first since 2009—and she passed with absolutely zero advisories. A massive testament to the love and dedication her new owner has poured into her.

As luck would have it, we had a mobile diagnostic call-out in the owner's hometown, so we used the trip for some intensive road testing. 350 miles smashed. She drove flawlessly, pulled like a train, and didn't miss a single beat!

This beast has landed in the perfect hands. Her owner is entirely dedicated to saving an iconic machine from being lost to time.

💬 Community Callout: If anyone in the LC community knows a top-tier bodywork and paint specialist who understands these cars, drop a recommendation in the comments to help a new member out!

It has been an absolute honor to work on this project, we truly hope both the owner and the car have the most superb summer! We hope you enjoy the gallery of the build! If you have any questions or have a specialist project of your own, drop a comment below or send us a message. 📥

Hey everyone! 👋

Hope you are all keeping well 😁

Who fancies bringing their car to The British Motor Show this summer? We’ve managed to bag a big club stand for the show at Farnborough Airport, 21st-23rd August!

We initially have space for 10 cars at the moment ( though we may be able to get more but we'll keep you updated) - 3 spaces have been filled already!

The quick breakdown:

Drivers: You get in completely FREE for the whole weekend with your car.

Passengers: Need tickets. If they want to do the full 3 days, there’s a cracking Multi-Day Early Bird deal on right now. If they just want a single day, we’ve got an exclusive 20% off code which helps to cut the cost down.

⚠️ NOTE: The Early Bird deals end this Sunday (May 31st), so we need to move fast if passengers want the cheapest tickets! We do apologise we couldn't get info to you sooner as we were waiting on clarifications from the organisers 😩

The rules: Cars have to stay put on the stand during the day, but once the show wraps up, looking like around about half 6, you can take your car out, grab food, etc., as long as you're back on the stand bright and early the next morning (by 8:45 latest).

Depending on how many of us are up for it, we might look at group booking a hotel so we can all have a proper catch-up and a few drinks in the evening. 🧑‍💻🍻

Drop a comment below if you’re up for it so we can start sorting numbers! Let’s get a proper lineup together. 👇🚗💨

It might only be a 4-day week, but we haven't stopped! 🛠️

The LC engine rebuild is officially complete. We’ve ticked off the final snagging list and got the air suspension reinstalled. To top it off, Tuesday was a double MOT day—both the LC and our own Skyline, Bibby, passed with flying colors! 🥳

Now, it’s all about road testing - she drives like a dream 😁 and a bit of "fun" company admin. 🫣 We are beyond excited to deliver the LC back to her eager owner this Saturday, when the secret can finally be revealed!

Keep your eyes on the page—some awesome updates are incoming. 😁✨

Hey everyone! 👋

So sorry we’ve been a bit quiet on the socials this week. It’s been hectic between mobile call-outs, business meetings, and working on that secret engine rebuild 🤫 (don't worry, all will be revealed in the next couple of weeks!).

However, we do have some exciting news. After a lot of designing, refining, and testing, we’re thrilled to announce that one of our latest developments is finally available!

Solid start to the week! 🛠️ The LC build is officially in the engine rebuild stage. The MLS head gasket is on, the head is torqued to spec, and the camshafts are back in. She’s turning over smooth! currently zinc plating a few fixings before the rebuilt turbos go on. We’re dying to show you the full gallery, but we’re keeping it under wraps for now per customer request! 🤫🤐

In the office, it’s been a much-needed admin and R&D day. Some fresh CAD design is underway which—after some prototyping—will hopefully be an exciting new development we can share with you all soon. 💻📐

And for a little "break," we finally showed our R34 Skyline, Bibby, some love. We sourced and fitted new door looms and a window switch, so for the first time in her life, she has working electric mirrors and windows! 🥳 Small wins feel the best. 🇯🇵✨

Happy Thursday! Nearly the weekend! 🥳🥳

It’s been another big day in the garage with plenty of progress to show for it.

The Monaro Update: 🏎️⚡️
The wiring loom refurb is officially complete! This was a massive job—we’ve rededicated every spare wire to the ECU, removed the clutter, corrected the lengths, and rerouted everything with brand-new sheathing. The loom is now laid in place for its final engine bay route, and the ECU has been permanently tucked away behind the kick shield for that ultra-clean, hidden finish.

The Supervisor: 🐈💤
As always, our garage inspector Mo has been on-site to oversee proceedings... though "overseeing" usually looks a lot like napping in the sun between shifts. 🙄🤣

New Arrivals: 📦🔧
The MLS head gaskets have finally arrived, which means we can get cracking on the LC engine rebuild! We have to keep the details a secret for the customer, but we’re buzzing to get this one back together. Stay tuned for the bits we can show you! 😉🤫

On the Road: 🚐⚡️
We’ll be out of the garage tomorrow morning to diagnose and resolve a voltage leak on a Carlton.

What have you guys got on the stands this weekend? Let us know below! 👇

Progress report on the Monaro! 🛠️

The Haltech is wired in and she’s officially running. Huge result getting the coolant temp and traction control back online after all this time. Now in the middle of the "fun" bit —stripping the loom back down to tidy everything up and make it look as good as it performs.

Halfway through, so stay tuned for the end result! 😁

Happy Thursday, everyone! 🛠️

We’ve been a little quiet the last few days (well, apart from yesterday 😈), mainly because the office has been deep in development mode.

Working with 30-year-old cars means we often hit a wall with obsolete parts. That’s where 3D CAD and rapid prototyping become our absolute lifeline. It allows us to:

Resurrect the Obsolete: Recreate parts that haven't been on a shelf in decades.

Upgrade Designs: Improve durability and functionality beyond the original factory specs.

Perfect the Fit: Visualize and analyze every angle before moving to final manufacture.

Why Resin? While many use filament (FDM), we personally favor SLA (Resin) printing. The precision, resolution, and superior surface finish allow us to create parts that look and feel like they belong on the car.

👀 Keep an eye out for our upcoming part development updates!

💡Got a project in mind? If you have an idea you want to bring to reality, drop us a message—let’s have a chat about how our design and printing services can help.

Happy April Fools!! Relax everyone...don't panic the mighty C36GET is safe! 😅 We promise there isn’t a single AA battery or milk float motor in the shop. Hopefully, we gave you a good laugh (and maybe a minor heart attack (sorry🫣)) yesterday!

Now that the joke is over, it’s time to get back to some proper work looking after these legendary super saloons.

The future is here, and it's silent. LA Motorsport is officially pivoting. We are proud to present the new Lotus E-mega upgrade. We are ditching the C36GET inline-six in favor of a 40kWh battery pack salvaged from crashed milk floats. 0–60 in 14 seconds. Top speed: 85 mph. Doing our bit to help save the environment, making Greta Thunberg proud. We are now accepting bookings to 'de-ICE' your classic Carltons. Out with the petrol, in with the batteries!
