Another repair completed to a factory-quality finish.

This Nissan came into the workshop for rear-end accident repairs, including a brand-new genuine rear bumper, tailgate repair and colour blending into both quarter panels.

To achieve a seamless colour match, the black metallic paint was carefully blended across the quarter panels and faded out towards the doors. This process eliminates visible paint edges and ensures the new paintwork matches the original finish perfectly.

The result? No harsh lines, no colour mismatch and no signs of the repair ever taking place.

Big rear-end repair on this Suzuki.

This one came to us after being hit hard in the rear, with damage severe enough to require a completely new back panel. The car’s been through the panel shop where the new rear panel has been professionally welded in, you can see where everything has been joined perfectly around the lower section and sides.

Along with that, it’s had a brand new tailgate and rear bumper fitted, with all the paintwork fully blended in for a factory-quality finish.

From heavy damage back to looking brand new again.

There’s something so satisfying about watching primer get laid down properly.

The smooth, controlled motion when priming is what helps keep the coverage even across the panel and creates a clean base ready for paint. Too heavy, too light or uneven movement can affect the final finish, which is why technique is such a big part of the process.

This is the stage where the repair really starts coming together before heading into colour.

Why do we prime before painting?

Once a panel has been repaired and sanded, primer is applied before any colour goes onto the vehicle. Primer acts as a base layer between the bare panel/filler and the paint, helping the paint bond properly and creating a smooth, even surface ready for respray.

Priming also helps cover sanding marks, minor imperfections and repaired areas so they don’t show through once the final paint is applied. Without this stage, the finish can end up uneven, and the paint’s durability won’t be as good over time.

After the primer is applied, the panel is then sanded back again to get it as smooth as possible before moving into paint. It’s a key part of getting the final finish right.

Getting the colour right is a huge part of any respray job.

Before the paint is even mixed, we scan the vehicle’s paint to find the closest possible colour match. Over time, paint can slightly change due to sunlight, weather and age, so using the original factory paint code alone doesn’t always give the best result.

Paint scanning helps us achieve a more accurate colour match so the new paint blends seamlessly with the rest of the vehicle.

This is the stage most people never see.

Panels need to be properly prepped, sanded and primed to create a smooth surface ready for paint. In this video, you can also see the heat gun being used to help speed up the curing and drying process between stages.

If the prep work isn’t done properly, the final finish won’t come out right, which is why so much time goes into getting the panels ready before they head into paint.

The prep side of the job is what makes the final result look clean once the paint goes down.

Nothing humbles a nice car quicker than the emergency orange wheel 😂

Straight into the workshop for saving.

Sanding down is one of the most important stages in any repair or respray job.

Before any primer or paint can be applied, the damaged area needs to be properly sanded to remove scratches, scuffs, old paint imperfections and uneven surfaces. This creates a smooth finish and allows the new paint to bond correctly to the panel.

Different grades of sandpaper are used throughout the process, depending on the repair and finish needed. If the prep isn’t done properly at this stage, imperfections will show through once the vehicle is painted.

A lot of the final result comes down to the prep work before the car even enters the paint booth.

Ever wondered why we tape vehicles up before painting?

Masking and taping are a big part of the prep process. It protects the areas of the car that don’t need paint, keeps the lines clean and helps us get a sharp final finish once the respray is complete.

Good prep work makes all the difference before the vehicle even goes into the booth.

A lot of people think scratches and scuffs mean a full respray, but that’s not always the case.

This one was sanded back, polished and worked through properly to get the panel looking right again without needing major work.

A satisfying transformation, a great result.
