No posts for a while, but we have been very busy as usual, with a mixture of Aircooled engine work, and Jagur/ Land Rover Ingenium timing chain jobs, which unfortunately a lot seem to be suffering from piston bore wear and suffering piston ring blow by, and low compression.
What does that mean, your engine needs replacing, it will use a lot of oil, and put exhaust gasses into the crankcase, adding to carbon build up in the new oil, vastly reducing its lubrication properties, as the soot and carbon mixing with the oil will turn into more of a lapping paste.
This is a major issue in the ingenium engine.
Extended service intervals and a lack of engine flush being used before an oil change are major contributing factors.
