🚗 THINGS YOUR CAR DOESN'T TELL YOU #1

Your car can have a serious fault… without showing a warning light.

Many drivers assume:

“If there’s no warning light, the car must be fine.”

Unfortunately, that's not always true.

Some problems can develop gradually without triggering a dashboard warning, including:

🔧 Suspension wear
🔧 Brake wear
🔧 Wheel bearing noise
🔧 Clutch problems
🔧 Timing belt issues
🔧 Cooling system problems

The warning light is there to alert you when certain systems detect a problem.

It is not a complete health check for the entire car.

If your car has started:

making a new noise
vibrating
pulling to one side
using more fuel
feeling different to drive

…it is worth getting it checked, even if the dashboard looks completely normal.

This beautiful 1990 Volkswagen Golf GTI joined us recently, and it reminded us why so many people still love the classics.

No giant touchscreens.
No endless driver aids.
No subscription features.

Just a lightweight hot hatch, a great driving experience and engineering that has stood the test of time.

Thirty-five years on, it's still putting a smile on people's faces.

It's a privilege to work on cars like this and help keep them on the road for future generations.

🚨 THE MOST EXPENSIVE WARNING LIGHT TO IGNORE...

Most people think it's the engine management light...

❌ Wrong.

It's actually the RED OIL WARNING LIGHT.

Here's why...

🔴 A red oil warning light doesn't mean you're due an oil change.

It usually means your engine may not have enough oil pressure to lubricate itself properly.

Driving "just another mile" could turn a small issue into an engine that needs replacing.

💷 We've seen repairs go from under £100... to several thousand pounds simply because someone thought:

"I'll get it checked tomorrow."

If you ever see a RED oil warning light:

🛑 Pull over safely.
🛑 Switch the engine off.
🛑 Don't continue driving until the cause has been checked.

Your engine could depend on it.

🚗 That £20 diagnostic scanner might not be telling you the full story… 👀

We see this quite often:

A warning light comes on…
Someone plugs in a cheap OBD scanner…
It says “no faults found”…

…and the problem is still there.

Why?

Modern cars (especially VW, Audi, BMW & Mercedes) have multiple control modules, not just one simple engine computer.

A basic scanner may only read:
❌ Generic engine fault codes

But it may miss:
⚠️ ABS faults
⚠️ Airbag faults
⚠️ Gearbox faults
⚠️ DPF issues
⚠️ Manufacturer-specific faults
⚠️ Intermittent problems

The right diagnostic equipment doesn’t just read codes — it helps find the actual cause.

💡 Clearing a warning light isn’t the same as fixing the problem.
