🚗 Diesel Owners – A Simple Habit That Could Save You a Costly Repair 🚗

Modern diesel cars are fantastic for long-distance driving, but they don't always enjoy short journeys and stop-start traffic.

One of the most common issues we see is DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) problems, and there are a couple of simple things you can do to help prevent them:

✅ Try not to run the fuel tank below ¼ full
Many diesel vehicles won't carry out a DPF regeneration cycle if the fuel level is too low.

✅ Take the car for a decent run regularly
A 20–30 minute drive at steady road speeds (A-roads or motorway) gives the engine and DPF the best chance to complete a regeneration.

✅ Don't ignore DPF warnings
If a DPF light appears, acting quickly can often prevent a more expensive repair later.

💡 Diesel engines are designed to cover miles. If your driving is mostly short local trips, it's even more important to give the car a longer run every few weeks.

A customer came to us today with a Skoda Citigo after being quoted over £1,000 + VAT elsewhere for a throttle body replacement 😳

We carried out our own diagnostics and agreed on the fault…
But the final bill with us came to just over £375 + VAT ✔️

Same issue.

but they do need the right maintenance to stay that way.

We’re seeing a lot locally at the moment with:

🚗 Quick bit of advice for local drivers…

We’re seeing a lot of cars coming in lately with simple issues that could’ve been avoided.

Things like:
❌ Low tyre pressure
❌ Empty washer bottles
❌ Warning lights ignored
❌ Worn tyres

Nothing major — but enough to fail an MOT or turn into bigger problems later.

💡 Quick 2-minute check you can do today:
✔ Check tyre pressures
✔ Top up washer fluid
✔ Make sure no warning lights are on

It might save you a hassle (and money) down the line 👍
