We’ve made the decision to stop advertising on AutoTrader.

So far, around 5,000 dealers have also committed to leaving the platform. During this time, AutoTrader’s share price has fallen by roughly 23% in just six weeks — and that’s despite them spending millions buying back their own shares.

A few customers have asked us why, so here are the main reasons:

• The costs have become excessive, running into thousands of pounds every month.
• You’re unable to contact us directly by phone or email without first logging into AutoTrader.
• They take customer deposits on our behalf.
• They even provide valuations for your part exchange.

In short, AutoTrader seems to have lost sight of who their real customers are. Dealers built their platform, yet increasingly it feels like we come second.

When done properly, you are our customers — not AutoTrader’s.
