π€β€οΈ CHESTERFIELD INSTRUCTORS STRONGER TOGETHER, NOT AGAINST EACH OTHER. β€οΈπ€
This is something that needs to be said, because being part of our local driving instructor community genuinely means a lot to me.
I started my journey as an independent driving instructor, building my business from the ground up. I know first-hand how hard it can be. Finding pupils, building a reputation, managing the pressures of running your own business and putting everything you have into helping people become safe, confident drivers takes an awful lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice.
Today, I feel incredibly proud and lucky to have grown from being an independent instructor to having a team around me at Elite Driver Training. π€β€οΈItβs something Iβm genuinely proud of, and Iβll never forget where it all started or the hard work it took to get here.
And perhaps thatβs exactly why this matters so much to me.
Because I know what itβs like to be that independent instructor working hard to build something of your own. I know the effort that goes on behind the scenes, the pressure, the long hours and just how much every pupil and every pass can mean to you.
Thatβs why it genuinely saddens me to see local independent instructors being belittled, singled out or put down in an attempt to make another driving school look better.
You can promote your own business without putting somebody elseβs down. You can celebrate your own success without trying to diminish someone elseβs.
You donβt need to make someone else look small to make yourself look big.
Letβs be honest: we all have businesses to run. We all have different personalities, different teaching styles, different approaches and different ideas about how best to help our pupils. We wonβt always agree, and we donβt have to do things the same way.
And thatβs a good thing!
Our differences are what make us individuals. There is room for independent instructors, small driving schools and larger teams. There is room for different approaches, different personalities and different businesses to succeed.
We might compete for pupils, but that doesnβt mean we have to compete by tearing each other down.
Competition is healthy. Bullying and belittling others is not.
What I would hate to see is the fantastic local instructor community we have here in Chesterfield damaged by the behaviour of one school trying to put others down. Weβve got so many hardworking instructors who genuinely care about what they do, and Iβd much rather see us supporting one another than creating unnecessary divisions.
We donβt have to agree on everything. But surely we can show one another a basic level of respect and professionalism.
Because behind every independent instructor is someone who has taken a risk, invested their time and money, built a reputation and worked hard to make a living doing something they care about.
And behind every driving lesson is a pupil who deserves the very best from us.
Our learners should always come first. Their safety, their confidence, their progress and their future on the road matter far more than egos, rivalries or who can make themselves look better than someone else.
Whether youβre a one-instructor business or part of a team, we all share that same responsibility. We all have the opportunity to make a real difference to peopleβs lives, and thatβs something worth remembering.
Iβm proud of Elite, proud of the team weβve built and proud of how far weβve come. But Iβm also proud to be part of a local community, and I would never want our growth to come at the expense of another instructor being made to feel less important or less worthy.
Success should never mean forgetting where you started or looking down on the people who are still walking the path you once walked yourself.
So, to every independent instructor and local driving school in Chesterfield who gets up every day, works hard, supports their pupils and tries to do the right thing β keep going. Be proud of what you do. Be proud of every pass, every milestone and every bit of progress your pupils make.
Never feel that you have to put somebody else down to prove your worth.
Iβll always believe that how we treat people is just as important as how successful we become.
Standing up for something I genuinely believe in: respect, fairness, kindness and supporting the community weβre all part of.
We should be celebrating each otherβs successes, learning from one another and lifting each other up, not looking for ways to knock each other down.
Because at the end of the day, real success isnβt measured by how many other instructors you can make look bad.
Itβs measured by the difference you make, the people you help and the respect you earn along the way. β€οΈ
Letβs protect the fantastic community we have, support our fellow instructors and never allow negativity or bullying to become the norm.
π€ Different businesses. Different approaches. One shared responsibility.
β€οΈ Stronger together, not against each other.
