Split-Second Reaction: Learner Driver Narrowly Avoids Young Boy Chasing Ball

Based on the dashcam footage captured earlier today, Kiarash demonstrated excellent defensive driving principles during this near-miss event: Passing this school.

Key Defensive Driving Actions

Appropriate Speed for the Environment: The telemetry at the bottom shows the vehicle was traveling at 18 mph, well below standard residential or urban speed limits. Maintaining a controlled, lower speed in an area with pedestrians on the pavement gave the driver crucial extra time and stopping distance to react safely.

Proactive Hazard Perception & Scanning:

Kiarash, clearly maintained active scanning of the roadside rather than just focusing straight ahead. Spotting the pedestrian running into the carriageway from behind/near the metal pedestrian railing requires early awareness of foot-traffic hazards.

Immediate Reaction & Braking:
The young boy in school uniform ran directly out off the pavement/crossing area into the path of the vehicle. By keeping the speed restrained and anticipating potential hazards around school areas or pedestrian railings, your student was able to brake effectively and prevent a collision.
Maintaining Control Under Pressure: Despite the sudden intrusion from the left, Kiarash,kept the vehicle stable within its lane rather than swerving into oncoming traffic (such as toward the white car approaching in the opposite lane).
