At the Garage and Body Shop Show this year, I asked garage owners and technicians why they weren't working on EVs. The answer was that there's too much ICE work to get through.

That's a shame, because EV work is cleaner. It isn't simpler, but a bit of knowledge and experience makes it simple.

We do well out of EVs and we don't hide it. But we do it to get more of them on the road, because that's where the market is going.

We're known nationally for EV work, but that's only the last eight years of the story.

My grandfather started this garage on petrol and diesel cars, and we've never lost those skills or the tooling. Combustion engine, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, whatever hybrid, or full EV, we can look after it.

A laptop sounds like a small thing, until you're trying to apply for a job or keep up with homework without one.

Cleevely Motors and Cleevely EV have joined the ITSA Business Club, backing The ITSA Digital Trust. They refurbish donated computers and get them to people in Gloucestershire who couldn't otherwise afford one, and their work reaches communities in Africa too.

We got to know Geoff and the team through our QuoLux cohort, so this one was an easy decision. By ITSA's own measure, every £1 spent with them creates £6 of social value.

Thanks to Bee for coming down to the workshop. If your business has old laptops sat in a cupboard, they're worth a message.

We've been working on electric vehicles for eight years now and I honestly thought the main dealers would have caught up with us. They haven't.

Repair to a modular level still isn't happening in the wider aftermarket, so plenty of owners are still being let down.

EVs are reliable but they’re not maintenance free.

The oil in this drive motor didn't get changed at the interval it should have been. Without lubrication the bearings went, and the motor had to come out of the car.

The Autotechnician Workshop Takeover lands here on 26 September.

Matt, Gareth Davies (Euro Performance) and Alistair Finch put live faults in front of the room, and work on them together in real time, from the likely causes through to the next logical test and what the data is actually telling them.

Combustion, hybrid and EV, with the new Euro 7 fault-driven diagnostics in there too.

£119 plus VAT covers refreshments, lunch and parking.

First time we've seen this job. A Mercedes EQC drive motor, out of the car with noisy bearings.

We've currently got team members opening these motors using tools like our new E-ART tool from Schaeffler to better understand how we can repair them and get our customers back on the road for less.

We have one of first E-ART tools from Schaeffler in the UK, and we'll be using it to change the bearings inside electric motors and saving our customers even more money on EV repairs.
