After the brake bodge and a making it back to the uk the finale mission was home and this really sucked! I was getting tired and i think all the road workers decided tonight everyone is working so M25 closed with a 20min detour, m40 closed so quick thinking was to turn off at M4 and cut through to M40 but that road was closed as well, just to finish me off the Warwickshire junction was closed as well so miles out of my way to get home. The mechanical sympathy had disappeared by now knowing i had work the next day so wasn’t hanging about. Car survived and arrived home just before 2am. Really impressed and happy with the car. I will always remember this amazing experience in a dream car, in the morning the poor thing had dumped its brake fluid everywhere on my drive and looking like it had done a 24h race and still full to the brim of belongings and tools. This is just the beginning of the story with this car 😉.

The overnight ferry/ cruise ship was something i have not experienced before with shops supermarket, pretty much a small town! But realised after a few hours that i would never do a cruise i would loose my mind. It was really good though and a great way of having a nice rest and eating up some miles. Food was amazing and we both ate as much as we could ready for the last leg of the journey. It will be a long day and hope the delorean holds out 🤞

Off we go on the first leg of the journey, fuel up and hope for the best🤞 unfortunately the previous owner passed away and the car has not really been used properly for a long time so i have with me as many spares as i can take and bought a load of fluids at the petrol station. Car seems to drive ok and norway roads are super slow and easy on the car.

Sleeping on two small beds pushed together is never the best nights sleep but still sleep, so ready for a walk to grab a machine made coffee back at the very quiet airport and collected promptly at 9am. We were very lucky and were given a tour of Alesund and taken to their new showroom. The car was the center peace and i was truly buzzing! earlier on this year i viewed the car in -7 in an aircraft hanger surrounded by motorhomes 😂. With loads of work to do getting the car ready we unpacked the parts and tools and got cracking This took longer than expected. Dave my father in law also decided to trowel his bald head on the gull wing door so the first aid kit had to come out 🙈. Luckily we were told about a problem with the car loosing electrical power intermittently and found a bad connection on the isolator switch which was removed and repaired. Managed to replace lots of worn items including the gas struts for the doors, headlights etc. now the doors open all the way 👍. The one thing on the back of my mind was how am i going to get all of this stuff we have in the car? Then two more boxes come out of storage full of history, parts and magazines!!! We discussed paying to ship all that over to the uk but unbelievably everything puzzled together and fitted perfectly, way more space than you think!! As much as I wanted to just tinker we had a long day ahead so got ready to hit the road for about 12.15pm.

After this amazing trip i thought i would send a few posts documenting the process over the next few days this is something i can look back on as well. I used story mode but they disappear after a day. So …..the journey started at Honeybourne train station- Piccadilly then changed trains to then get to heathrow. With 20kg bags full of tools super awkward to carry the mission to terminal 2 from the station was tough and was a pleasure dropping bags in the hold! Then our first flight was to Oslo with a transfer flight to Alesund Norway. We left home at 9am and arrived at about 9.30 pm. The accommodation was walking distance from the airport and was cheap but perfect for a nights sleep although it was about midnight before it was fully dark!! We even managed to go for a walk as the views even at the airport were stunning the airport is also on an island with underground tunnels accessing it. The day could have been really bad if there was any hold ups or issues with what we were trying to travel with but it couldn’t of gone smoother so we were really grateful 🙏

The car is ready for running in and tuning, we are lucky enough to have letting us and helping us use their dyno today, amazing experience using their modern knowledge and equipment with our carb experience, results couldn’t of been better no issues other than needing to buy smaller pump jets all other changes were possible with the spares and equipment we had. With a good day of runs, after running in, the running in oil was changed and we are happy with the engine. Also first time out in the sun! The yellow gives off a orange glow. This car/ colour is growing on us and feeling happy with the results so far.

The cars on all four wheels quite quickly. Now it is time to mock up the first stage of the new wiring loom and get an idea of what extra looms need to be made. Dash will also be having some new wood, stereo and charge ports. We have fully rebuilt the gearbox, steering box and idler. The steering box cases are really prone for cracking so have fitted a billet casing.

Suspension, bushes, arms, rear axle and brakes fitted, some parts we have restored but most of the items you see are new and modified by Alfaholics. Aiming to get the car back on its wheels ASAP.
With the car being LHD the factory brake master and servo is part of the pedal box where as the RHD cars have remote master and servos causing this weird delay when braking, the LHD brakes always feels so much better standard, so with all these upgrades its going to be good.
