Very true, most people don’t realise some of the death traps they are driving or really give a monkeys as they know the mot will just cost them some money. But even lots of garages don’t help this situation by discounting the mot fee but making up the short fall by failing items that don’t need failing, it’s about time the DVSA made the test a set fee so everyone has to charge the same and also bring this inline with costs of running a modern vehicle workshop !!

Well I never thought I would see the day !! New ordered Land Rovers are now coming with a 5 year factory warranty so surely that’s great news for consumers. I was speaking to our parts manager a while back who told me that the warranty rate had been really reduced lately as they have to forecast warranty repairs and the trend was that the product is definitely getting more reliable and I think this shows Land Rover are also convinced to be offering this warranty.

Well the suns scheduled for next week and the owner of this Phoenix Orange Range Rover Convertible was having trouble with the roof not opening and closing at it should, using our genuine diagnostic tooling and wiring diagrams we found the issue and managed to fix it all within our diagnostic assessment fee meaning the customer was super happy and ready to get the top down in the sunshine ☀️

Customer complained that the vehicle had very poor road manners especially when cornering. We found the rear suspension track arm bushes had separated allowing the rear wheels to move around causing the issues, 2 nice new genuine arms and associated fixings replaced followed by a 4 wheel alignment to get it driving straight again. This vehicle is also fitted with advanced driver assistance systems ADAS so has lane keep assist and emergency brake assist where a camera looks at the road ahead to keep an eye out incase it needs to intervene in case of emergency so once all the mechanical repairs are carried out we then need to carry out a short road test and align the ADAS camera for safe future operations.

Crikey got myself all excited then for a moment that the DVSA had finally come to their senses and aligned the mot test fee with how much everything else has gone up around it, wages, calibrations, mot equipment costs, accounting fees and so on. But nope it’s not to be, just more paperwork and unloading some of smaller stuff from there workload onto the rest of us. Cheers for that 🤦🏻‍♂️
