☀️With this warmer weather around it’s worth noting this top tip!☀️

We’ve all been there, Trying to buckle your seatbelt in the heat is a dangerous game. Any metal component of your car that has been exposed to sunlight and heat may irritate your hands, especially if you have children! But you can avoid this by fastening your seatbelt when you leave and leaving it buckled until the next time you enter.

If the sun can't reach it, it won't become hot enough to burn!

Summer Holidays Are Over — Time to Clear Out the Boot!

Now that the summer holidays are behind us, it’s the perfect time to finally clear out the boot. We all do it — load up the car with everything we 'might' need for days out, staycations, beach trips and family adventures. But once the season ends, most of that “just in case” stuff ends up living in the car far longer than it should.

Extra weight means extra fuel.
The heavier your vehicle, the more petrol it needs to keep moving — especially in stop‑start traffic on busy roads and motorways. Even an additional 50kg can increase fuel consumption by 1–2%, so clearing out the clutter can genuinely save you money.

It’s easy to let the car become a storage space for prams, sports gear, beach chairs or golf clubs. But now’s the ideal moment to lighten the load and give your car a breather.

Protect Your Tyres Too

Overloading puts unnecessary strain on your tyres. More weight increases contact with the road, causing faster wear — and if your tyre pressures aren’t correct, that extra stress can even lead to a blowout. A quick clear‑out and a tyre check can make a big difference to your safety and your fuel costs.

It is your legal requirement to have a valid MOT certificate for your vehicle.

With our easy to use online booking system, you can arrange your MOT test at a time to suit you, we will even send you an email/SMS reminder before your test is due.

Our current prices are £40.00 for Class IV or £50.00 for Class VII.

We can only accept Class 1/2/3 MOT tests by telephone so please call for availability.

1. When to get an MOT- The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. You must get an MOT for your vehicle by either: the third anniversary of its registration or the anniversary of its last MOT, if it’s over 3 years old.

‍2. Earliest date you can get an MOT - An MOT lasts for a year. The date it runs out is printed on the last pass certificate. You can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.

‍3. If the MOT has expired - You can’t drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has run out. You can be prosecuted if caught. The only exceptions are to drive it to, or from somewhere to be repaired, or to a pre-arranged MOT test.

Motorists without a valid MOT certificate for their vehicle can risk a fine of up to £1,000.

Planning a Long journey? get your car serviced before you set off!

But just how often should you service your car?

Most modern cars will have a service indicator to remind you when your service is due. This is likely to take into account the time and mileage since your last service.

Details of your car’s recommended service schedule will be in the handbook. Many manufacturer’s recommend getting a service every 10,000 - 20,000 miles depending on the type of car you have.

All of our services are available.

Car dashboard warning lights - what do they mean?
Modern cars are filled with electronics and packed with sensors to monitor how your vehicle is behaving.
It’s important to know what car dashboard warning lights mean because you might be able to avoid a car breakdown or full-on failure.
So here's what the different yellow and red warning lights on your dashboard mean, why they come on, how urgent the problem is and what you should do when you see them.
The warning lights on your dashboard follow a traffic light colour system:
🟢Green: the system is working correctly or is currently in use
🟡Yellow: something is not working correctly - take extra care and check it out as soon as possible
🔴Red: there is a serious, and potentially dangerous problem - stop driving as soon as it is safe to do so

Brake warning light - Also known as the brake system warning light, parking brake warning light or brake fluid warning light.

If this red light remains on after you fully release the parking brake, or comes on when you’re driving, it may indicate that the brake fluid level is low. Unless you know how to check your brake fluid levels yourself, this will be one for the professionals.

If the ABS warning light is also illuminated this signals that the braking system has malfunctioned and your brakes may not work properly. In this case the Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) warning light may also be illuminated.

Can I still drive with my brake warning light on?
You shouldn't risk it. The brakes are one of the most important safety features of your car, so it’s important to act immediately when you see this red warning light.

Pull over and stop as soon as it’s safe to do so - keep your speed low and avoid braking suddenly. Unless you know how to check your brake fluid levels yourself, this will be one for the professionals, so get yourself to a garage.

Don’t risk driving when your brakes are not functioning properly: call for recovery if you have a breakdown cover policy.

Summer Holidays Are Over — Time to Clear Out the Boot!

Now that the summer holidays are behind us, it’s the perfect time to finally clear out the boot. Airbag warning light- Also known as the supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning light.
When this light goes red it means that at least one element of the airbag safety system is not working correctly: either the airbag system itself; the front passenger occupant classification system (which detects the front passenger’s weight and position in order to safely deploy the airbag); or the seat belt pretensioner system, which tightens the belt in the event of a crash.
Can I still drive with my airbag light on?
If the airbag system is not working properly, it may not go off in a crash - or in some cases it could even deploy unexpectedly and cause a crash. Either way, the airbag system is an incredibly important safety feature of your car so if this light comes on please get it checked out immediately.
