Been a busy start to the weekend.
Got called out to diagnose a running/ loss of power issue from a ford focus 1.0l EcoBoost. Carried out fault code retrieval and had faults codes stored in the PCM for timing related issue and turbo charger under boost. Carried out checks on vacuum system and found no vacuum from the vacuum pump and a brake pedal solid as a brick wall. Carried out removal of the rocker cover and found teeth missing from the belt with excessive free play in the belt.
Customer agreed to us carrying out a full strip down and investigation into the issue and to see what other damage has happened:
- New wet belt kit
- Oil pump and main timing belt
- Turbo/ Engine block filter
- New water pump
- New auxiliary drive belt and tensioner
- New gaskets and required parts
- Replacement Turbocharger assembly
- New vacuum pump and seals
- New thermostat and thermostat housing- These engines have two thermostats one in the cylinder block one on the side of the cylinder head.
- New sump gasket and strainer as damage was found to the strainer and cap
- Full service kit
( Oil filter, Air filter, Pollen/Dust filter, Spark plugs)

Mercedes-Benz CLA in for diagnosis this week with engine miss-fire and poor performance. Compression test carried out and found compression down on two cylinders and all four measurements recorded out of specification. Engine stripped down to inspect and found the valve seats on the cylinder head had failed and the turbocharger had damage with movement causing the turbine to foul against the body when in rotated.
New Cylinder head gasket and Cylinder head fitted due to extent of damage found. Turbocharger also replaced during repair keeping another customer happy and a car running.

All faults are diagnosed with evidence to back up the diagnosis. Video attactched of the coolant leak found from a thermostat housing on a Range Rover velar- all fixed and returned back to a happy customer.

Another coolant leak- Proven and pressure tested. Fault found and fixed
Mercedes G class in for no comms on the diagnostic port- Found a short on the wiring all fixed and returned back to the customer.
