2026 Championship & PLPC Summer Series Finale

The final round of the 2026 Cults Kart Club Summer Season brought competitors back to Castle Kennedy for Round 7 of the Club Championship and, with the PLPC Summer Series titles also to be decided, there was plenty still at stake.
Conditions provided two very different challenges throughout the meeting. An unusually still morning greeted competitors, with temperatures around 19°C and virtually no wind. The sun even made a welcome appearance during setup, but by the beginning of racing the skies had become overcast.
Heats 1 and 2 remained completely dry, allowing the drivers to make the most of the Castle Kennedy circuit before the weather changed dramatically. Heavy and persistent rain arrived ahead of Heat 3, transforming the track and sending teams scrambling for full-wet setups. From that point onwards, the meeting became a very different affair, with Heat 3 and all of the Finals contested in difficult full-wet conditions.
With five classes competing and Summer Series honours awaiting several drivers, there was still plenty of racing to come.
🏎️ ROTAX PRE-EVO
Once again, Rotax Pre-Evo proved to be one of the standout classes of the meeting, with close competition throughout the field and the changing weather producing two distinctly different halves to the day's racing.
The opening dry races belonged to the ever-present Cults veteran Rob Logan #73.
Logan was in superb form and produced pace that simply couldn't be matched during the opening stages of the meeting. He took victory in both Heat 1 and Heat 2, establishing himself as the man to beat while conditions remained dry.
Behind him, Paul Bray #7 was rapid throughout the day and ensured Logan was never allowed an easy run. Bray remained firmly in contention and continued to apply pressure, taking P2 in Heat 1 before another strong performance in Heat 2.
For Robbie Newall #86, meanwhile, the opening two heats proved more difficult. After topping practice, apparent mechanical issues affected the #86 kart during the first two races and prevented Newall from displaying his usual pace, despite recording the fastest lap of Heat 2.
Everything changed as the rain arrived.
With the problem seemingly resolved and the field switching to full-wet setups, Newall immediately rediscovered his pace. He took victory in Heat 3, ahead of Logan and Bray, setting up an intriguing wet Final.
In extremely difficult conditions, Newall again came through to take the Round 7 Final victory, with Logan completing an excellent meeting in second and Bray rounding out the podium after another consistently fast performance.

The result also secured the 2026 PLPC Summer Series Pre-Evo Championship for Robbie Newall #86. 🏆
🏎️ ROTAX MAX 177
The Rotax Max 177 contest produced an excellent back-and-forth meeting between Logan Corrigan #56 and Ross Jardine #49, with both drivers enjoying success as conditions changed.
Corrigan began strongly, topping practice before taking victory in Heat 1, but Jardine immediately responded by winning Heat 2.
When the rain arrived for Heat 3, Jardine adapted quickly to the dramatically different circuit and claimed another victory, giving him consecutive heat wins and setting up an interesting Final.
However, Corrigan saved one of his strongest performances for when it mattered most.
In the fully wet Final, the #56 kart produced excellent pace and Corrigan came through to take the victory, recording a 29.176-second fastest lap on his way to the flag. Jardine finished second after providing strong opposition throughout the meeting.

After a meeting in which the honours had swung between the two drivers, Corrigan's performance in the Final ultimately marked him out as the standout Rotax 177 driver of Round 7.
Logan’s superb performance also secured the 2026 PLPC Summer Series Bambino Championship. 🏆
🏎️ BAMBINO
The youngest competitors faced arguably one of the biggest challenges of the entire meeting once the rain arrived, but Arthur Harris again demonstrated why he has been such a strong performer throughout the 2026 season.
Harris set the benchmark immediately by going fastest in practice before taking victory in Heat 1.
There would be no stopping him from there.
He followed that performance with another victory in Heat 2 before adapting impressively to the soaked circuit to win Heat 3. With standing water and persistent rain making conditions particularly demanding for the Bambino competitors, simply keeping the kart pointing in the right direction became an achievement in itself.
Harris nevertheless completed an outstanding meeting by taking victory again in the wet Final and therefore completing a clean sweep of all three heats and the Final.
Orla Neill #27 also produced a strong meeting, recovering from P3 in the opening heat to take second in Heat 2 and maintaining that position through both wet races to finish runner-up in the Final.
Dominic Taylor #26 started strongly with P2 in Heat 1, but unfortunately suffered a more difficult remainder of the meeting with DNFs affecting his afternoon.

🏎️ MASTERS
The Masters class produced another competitive meeting between three familiar Cults racers, with Chris Smyth #89, Mark Byrne #53 and Gez Jones #21 all showing strong pace at different stages.
Smyth started the day quickest, topping practice before converting that pace into victory in Heat 1.
Mark Byrne, however, was already showing signs that he would become increasingly difficult to beat. Despite finishing second in the opening race, Byrne recorded its fastest lap before turning the tables in Heat 2 and taking his first victory of the day.
When the circuit became soaked for Heat 3, Byrne continued where he had left off.
The #53 driver adapted extremely well to the wet conditions, taking victory ahead of Smyth and Jones and carrying that momentum into the Final.
Byrne again delivered when it mattered, taking the Round 7 Masters Final victory. Behind him, Gez Jones produced a strong performance in the difficult conditions to take second, with Smyth completing the podium in third.

It capped an excellent day for Byrne, who also secured the 2026 PLPC Summer Series Masters Championship. 🏆
🏎️ KZ 125
Few things around Castle Kennedy are quite as spectacular as the KZ machinery at full attack, and despite the weather the gearbox class again provided an impressive demonstration of speed.
Simon Townley-Malyon #81 proved the strongest racer across the meeting and produced a commanding set of results.
Townley-Malyon won Heat 1, Heat 2 and Heat 3, demonstrating his ability to deliver in both the dry and the wet.
However, Iain Watson #48 showed that the outright pace between the pair could be extremely close. Watson actually recorded the faster lap in Heat 1, with a 23.262 compared with Townley-Malyon's 23.363, and again narrowly recorded the quicker lap during the wet Heat 3.
Townley-Malyon's consistency and ability to convert his pace into race victories ultimately proved decisive.
He completed his clean sweep by taking victory in the wet Final, with Watson classified second.

⭐ DRIVERS OF THE DAY
🏆 Senior Driver of the Day – Logan Corrigan #56
After a competitive meeting in Rotax Max 177, Logan Corrigan earns the Senior Driver of the Day award. Having won Heat 1 before seeing Ross Jardine respond with victories in Heats 2 and 3, Corrigan delivered when it counted most, producing excellent pace in extremely difficult conditions to take victory in the wet Final.
🏆 Junior Driver of the Day – Arthur Harris #73
There could be few arguments over the Junior award following another outstanding performance from Arthur Harris. Fastest in practice and victorious in all three heats and the Final, Harris produced a faultless set of results across both dry and wet conditions and capped the meeting by becoming PLPC Summer Series Bambino Champion.

And with that, the 2026 Cults Kart Club Summer Season draws to a close.
Round 7 provided an appropriate finale: dry racing, torrential rain, rapidly changing setups, difficult track conditions and strong performances throughout the classes. From the dry opening heats to the fully wet Finals, competitors were asked to adapt to almost everything the Scottish weather could throw at them.
