£4000 mk1 1.6 Roadster, not rusty, needs painting.
Think it's too expensive? please scroll on by and enjoy your day.
Still here? Here's the details:
Imported by us from Japan in 2016 and dry stored for almost all the time since. It's been UK registered and has driven around 2000km since import, including me driving up to Scotland from Southampton in 2017. It's never been used on a salted road.
It's located in Castle Douglas, SW Scotland.
It's one of the last mk1 1.6's, registered in Japan in July 1993, it has some nice JDM mods too, a lovely cat back exhaust system, JDM alloy crossover intake pipe, strut brace, Tein coilovers, uprated L*D and clutch and (I believe) a lightened flywheel. Engine is great, the long nose 1.6, no tappety noises on startup and it is one of the quickest non-turbo's 1.6's I've driven.
Soft top is a mk2.5 mohair with glass heated window, in really good nick. The a/c still works, it's a bit feeble but the compressor cuts in so it's ideal for a conversion to the later R134A gas.
MOT to May 2027 and I've been using it during this hot weather so it's currently taxed and in regular use. It's done 217,000km.
See the underneath pictures, you can still see the original part numbers on the rear wishbones and all the spot welds on the arches.
If you didn't look at the paintwork it would be one of the nicest mk1's you'd find.
Bad points:
Needs a respray. The l/h front wing has been replaced with a red one and that was painted by Stevie Wonder. With a stick. In the wrong shade of white. The original paint has the factory paint problem common to the 1.6 mk1's in silver and white, where the paint just flakes off in sheets exposing the factory grey primer, you can see this on the bonnet, boot lid and screen surround. There's a few dents and scrapes, the worst of which is on the r/h rear wheelarch, again, not rusty so easily fixed when painted. The last picture shows my white car from 20 odd years ago and that's what it would want it to look like if I were to get it painted.
It's easy to stall this if you're used to a standard one as the uprated clutch, diff and flywheel make things a whole lot sharper.
Price is £4000 but at the end of the day it's a fresh import that's never been welded and they are getting rarer now.
Thank you for your attention.
