🙏 1 Minor & Done 🙏

A scent-sational pass yesterday for Ru!

I wasnt able to present him for test due to family commitments but I had every confidence in his ability to pass!

We started to work together back in January 2025. With a couple of periods where life took priority over lessons, Ru completed 46.5hrs over that time.

Once he found his confidence no one could hold a candle to his ability and confidence, he just needed to believe it a bit more, and I believe taking the opportunity to go out and practice in his brother's car on the run up to test is a test in itself, as I wasnt there to hold him to the standard, so it was really down to him remembering the safe driving methods in which we teach as driving instructors to become safe competent drivers, and ultimately to pass the driving assessment with an exceptional 1 Minor!

🏆ONE & DONE🏆

A beautiful day to pass your test in Carlisle!

Alex needed a pre-test booster, before going for test.

He got in touch Mid February, and with previous driving experience Alex didnt need 'teaching' from the ground up 🏫👨‍🏫

Having an assessment and spruce up of his existing skills meant that over 10 hrs of tuition, we were able to improve the standard of his driving before presenting him with the car for test.

We’re putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings 🚘

If you’ve got a booking or you’ll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪

🏆ONE & DONE 🏆

Today Emily passed with flying colours on her first attempt with just 2 minors!

We started her training in September and in that time had completed 41hrs of tuition.

Emily is another great example of using her own car to be able to practice in.
Having the great support of several supervising drivers allowing her to drive to work everyday really made the difference in her standard of driving, but also making time outside of the day to day daily drive to go out and practice.

Her consistent approach to her lessons on the run up to her test maximised her chances of her first time pass.

There was also motivation from a family member that if she passed within 6 months they'd give her £100, so there you go Emily, its in print... he better had! 😅

During our time together we were able to get on the motorway and drive to her work using the very rural roads to drive more in the context of how she will drive and not just to 'pass the test'

Emily even wanted some of her lessons to be 'SUPER MOCK TESTS' essentially the whole lesson duration under strict mock conditions, including several manoeuvres and the Show Me & Tell Me Questions. This was a great tactic by her to really test her ability to drive safely and independently.

It was really impressive test drive lasting a full 40 mins where I also went along for the test.

🏆 ONE & DONE🏆

Earlier today Lucy passed her test first time with only 2 minors! (But didn't want a picture 😀)

Such a great result for her. We started working together at the start of August, and during that time and, along side her own private practice in her own car, completed 37hrs of lesson time.

It was a real pleasure watching her confidence grow in the car as she progressed with her training. Whilst she experienced some challenges along the way, she learnt from them and came back stronger for it.

🚗 ANOTHER GREAT RESULT TODAY🚗

Carrying on from the success of one pupil to another, today we also had Shay pass his test with a more than respectable 5 minors.

Shay and I started his training in feb 2025, and over that period of time completed 65 hours of lesson time.

Finding a test and maintaining the standard of driving nowadays is a really hard balance to strike, his learning accelerated once he found himself a car, meaning he was able to go out and actively practice the standard of the test. He clearly had the great support from family who were able to support him in his own private practice.

This also meant we were able to develop the tools to not only pass the test, but to deal with the rigorous challenges and demands that driving on modern roads poses.

We went for extended drives to find new examples and experiences that Carlisle doesn't have to offer, like a decent dual carriageway and navigating areas you're not familiar with.

The chat in the car flowed well, as we both share a passion for great looking cars, and music, tho we did have to draw the line at Slipknot during the test 🤣

🏆 ONE & DONE 🏆

Today's pass came from Cal who passed first time with only 3 faults.

Cal and I have been working together since Oct 2025, and in that time completed 33hrs of lesson time. He also had some previous experience that we were able to work from.

What I really loved about working with Cal is he ASKED QUESTIONS! ⁉️ Your instructor is there to interrogate! And you should be asking them about stuff you dont know.

Because of this he was able to gain a great understanding about the standard of the test and how to combat little niggles about car control, such as gearing down and the nuances of brake before clutch / clutch before breaking.

We were even able to get in the motorway (which I do try to do at least once with everyone, if not more!) And he surprised himself with his own progress and was able to effectively reflect on his outstanding progession. Commenting before test ''I feel really confident - I don't know if that's a good thing!?"..... When you've squeezed me for all the knowledge you did, it was no wonder you felt like that and got the result you so deserve.

🏆 ONE & DONE 🏆

Today we have Owen. Who today passed his test 1st time. Well done to him!

We started working together last January, and in that time he completed 61hrs of tuition. During most of that time, he had his own car, showing what can happen if you're able to actually practice and go out to tackle the weak areas of your driving.

The search for a test was long but once he secured the right date, we were able to maximise his chances of a first time pass. Coupled with his love and passion of going to gigs, now means he's going to be able to go to more now he's a full licence holder 🤘🎸

The news gets better though.... as it also means there is real progession at his work place. Furthering his career prospects 🚚🚛🚚

💯🏆 ONE & DONE - A PERFECT PASS🏆💯

Today Shelly ACED her test with a perfect first time pass!

The examiner commenting "I wish they were all like that!"

Shelly and I started to work together in Jan 2025. Over that period a total of 46 hours of lesson time was completed. Shelly already had some prior driving experience for us to work from which enabled us to really focus where the weak areas of her driving were.

With the wait for a driving test being what it is at the moment, much of this time was trying to line up a test at the right moment for her and her lessons to maximise her chances of a successful first time pass.

I will miss your bubbly and enthusiastic zing for life in the car and I can't wait to see what car you get!
