Been down the OBD reader rabbit hole recently trying to sort a warning light on the Mini, and learned the hard way that generic scanners barely scratch the surface on BMW/Mini electronics — you need something that actually talks to the BMW-specific modules.

Ended up looking at the Foxwell NT510/NT530, which covers CAS, FRM, DME properly and does battery registration and CBS resets too. Sharing in case it saves someone else the same headache.
