A wee Glasgow appreciation post ❤️

Two of our Borders Buses drivers, Colin and James, recently spent some time helping out our West Coast Motors team in Glasgow – and they came away with one thing to say: how friendly are Glasgow’s passengers!

They couldn’t believe how many customers, young and old, took the time to say thanks as they got off the bus - thank ye driver!

For Colin, it was also a bit of a trip down memory lane. Born and raised in Maryhill, he was delighted to see the area hadn’t lost any of its character or friendliness – and he even managed to spot his granny’s old hoose along the way!

Thanks to Colin and James for lending a hand, and to our Glasgow customers for making them feel so welcome.

They do say People Make Glasgow… and we’d have to agree. ❤️

📚🚌 Helping young readers on their way

We were delighted to play a small part in a special day for P1 and P2 pupils from Tarbert Primary School, providing their transport to the ferry before they set sail aboard CalMac Ferries MV Isle of Islay d=for morning of stories, songs and activities celebrating Scotland’s National Year of Reading, including storytelling with the Scottish Book Trust

A lovely day organised by CalMac and the Scottish Book Trust and National Literacy Trust and we were very happy to help get everyone there!

📚🚌 Helping young readers on their way

We were delighted to play a small part in a special day for P1 and P2 pupils from Tarbert Primary School, providing their transport to the ferry before they set sail aboard CalMac’s MV Isle of Islay where pupils enjoyed a morning of stories, songs and activities celebrating Scotland’s National Year of Reading, including storytelling with the Scottish Book Trust, a treasure hunt and a behind-the-scenes visit to the bridge.

A lovely day organised by CalMac Ferries, Scottish Book Trust and National Literacy Trust - and we were very happy to help get everyone there!

🚌 Meet Lee

Lee has been a bus driver in Galashiels for 19 years. He enjoys getting to know his regular passengers and driving the 67 to Berwick, which he describes as a beautiful journey.

Working three days out of five also gives Lee time for life outside work, including his current project -landscaping his garden.

Throughout September, Catch the Bus Month celebrates the important role buses play in keeping people connected and helping them travel more sustainably.

Whether you use the bus for work, appointments, shopping or a day out, why not leave the car at home and hop on board?

Under 22 and travelling for free? Don’t forget your NEC.

We’re seeing an increase in young people travelling on our buses without their National Entitlement Card (NEC).

We know it’s easy to think, “the bus is free anyway” – but there’s an important bit behind the scenes.

Free bus travel for under 22s is funded by the Scottish Government. When a valid NEC is presented, the journey is recorded and we are reimbursed for providing that travel. If a card isn’t presented, we don’t receive payment for the journey.

So, a quick ask to parents and young people: please make sure you have a valid NEC with you and present it when you board.

If you don’t have a valid card, you’ll need to pay the normal fare.
