Want more sound from your S3 without replacing the entire exhaust? 👀🔊

That’s exactly where a res-delete comes in.

This Audi S3 was recently with us for a Scorpion Exhausts resonator delete – a relatively simple upgrade designed to give the car a more noticeable exhaust note without going down the route of a complete aftermarket system.

So, what does it actually do?

The factory exhaust uses a resonator to help reduce and refine certain sound frequencies as exhaust gases travel through the system. A res-delete replaces that section with a freer-flowing pipe, allowing more of the engine’s natural exhaust note to make its way out the back. 🔥

The result is a deeper, more pronounced sound, particularly under acceleration, giving the S3 a little more character when you want to hear it.

It’s also why res-deletes have become such a popular first exhaust modification – you’re retaining the majority of the original system while changing one section to unlock a bit more noise. 👌

For this S3, we fitted a Scorpion Exhausts res-delete section, designed specifically for the application for a proper fit with the existing exhaust.

Four tiny parts with a pretty important job when you put your foot down… ⚡👀

This Audi S3 was recently in with us for an oil service and a fresh set of spark plugs – and we managed to get a good look at old vs new while they were out.

Spark plugs might be small, but they’re responsible for creating the spark that ignites the air/fuel mixture inside each cylinder. On a turbocharged performance car like the S3, they’re doing that thousands of times every minute, so their condition can have a real impact on how the engine starts, idles and performs.

As plugs wear, the gap and electrodes can deteriorate, making it harder to produce a strong, consistent spark. That’s why replacing them at the correct service interval matters rather than simply waiting for a misfire or warning light to appear. 🔧

While the S3 was with us, we also carried out its oil service, replacing the used oil filter you can see in the photos with a fresh one.

Your tyres can have plenty of tread left… and still cause you problems at MOT time. 👀

This Mk8 Golf GTI was recently with us for its MOT alongside a four-wheel alignment – two jobs that actually make a lot of sense to carry out together.

If your wheel alignment is out, your tyres may not wear evenly across the full width of the tread. That means one edge can become excessively worn while the rest of the tyre still looks perfectly healthy at first glance.

Not only can that shorten the life of an expensive set of tyres, but tyre condition is also one of the areas checked as part of your MOT.

Using our four-wheel alignment equipment, we can check the vehicle’s geometry and make the necessary adjustments to bring everything back within the correct tolerances.

450PS is impressive… but stopping it is just as important! 👀🔴

The B9 Audi RS4 might be best known for its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 and quattro all-wheel drive, but there's some equally impressive engineering behind its braking system.

Did you know the B9 RS4 comes with huge 375mm front brake discs as standard? That's some serious stopping power, but when you've got a performance estate capable of reaching 62mph in just over four seconds, it's easy to understand why they're needed! 😮

This particular RS4 was recently in with us for a replacement set of front brake discs and pads.

With a car of this weight and performance, keeping the braking system in good condition is especially important. Over time, discs and pads naturally wear through use, and leaving them too long can affect braking performance, particularly when the brakes are working hard.

Fortunately, you don't need to visit the main dealer to keep your RS4 maintained to the correct standards. The car that started the Golf R story… 💙

Before the Golf R became a regular part of Volkswagen’s line-up, there was this – the Mk4 Golf R32.

Launched in the early 2000s, the R32 took the humble Golf in a very different direction, combining its naturally aspirated 3.2-litre VR6 with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It was also the first production Volkswagen to be offered with a DSG gearbox – although this particular example is the drivers choice and it's Spanish cousin, mánũel. 😎

More than 20 years later, good Mk4 R32s are becoming increasingly desirable, and we’re always pleased to see one come through the workshop.

This example was recently with us for a service and inspection, including fresh engine oil and filter alongside a Haldex oil change.

The Haldex system plays an important role in the R32’s 4MOTION drivetrain, helping distribute drive to the rear wheels when required. Like the engine, it relies on the correct fluid and regular maintenance to keep everything operating as it should, something that becomes even more important as these cars get older.

Old vs new… this is why regular servicing matters. 👀

This VW Golf GTI was recently in with us for an Oil & Inspection Service alongside a brake fluid change.

The difference between the old and new oil filter is pretty clear to see! Oil and filters have an important job to do, helping to lubricate and protect the engine while picking up contaminants along the way. Over time, both become less effective – which is exactly why sticking to the correct service intervals matters.

We also replaced the brake fluid while the GTI was with us. Brake fluid naturally absorbs moisture over time, which can reduce its effectiveness and lower its boiling point, so it’s another important maintenance item that can easily be overlooked.

And, of course, an Oil & Inspection Service isn’t just about fresh oil. Our technicians give the car a thorough check over at the same time, helping to pick up any wear or potential issues before they develop into something more serious.
