Many will remember the building as the location where they took their driving theory test

🚫Why are driving tests still being cancelled? New figures show over 101,000 car driving tests were cancelled in 2025/26, messing up plans for thousands of learner drivers across the UK. Think of the cost of extra lessons and rebooking!

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) data reveals that almost 60% of these cancellations – over 60,000 tests – were due to examiner medical absences alone. That's more than double the cancellations caused by examiner annual leave!

⚠️ 60,092 tests cancelled due to medical absences.
⚠️ 101,423 total cancellations in 2025/26.
⚠️ Cancellations remain 36% higher than a decade ago.

Imagine finally feeling ready, only for your test to be pulled at the last minute because an examiner is off sick. It means more waiting, more stress, and more money spent on lessons to stay sharp. Test centres like Crewe saw a massive 17% cancellation rate, while others like Lee On The Solent kept it to just 0.3%.

This isn't just an inconvenience; it's a major hurdle for those trying to get on the road, impacting jobs, education, and independence. Is the system fair, or are learners bearing the brunt of staff shortages?

🚗 I have a question for people who don’t indicate…
Do you enjoy being held up yourselves? 🤔
Because there’s a special little situation happening at junctions all over Britain.

You’re waiting to pull out.
A car is approaching.
No indicator.
So naturally, you wait.

You’re watching them like a hawk, trying to decode their intentions from pure vibes and front-wheel energy.

They’re basically at the junction now…
FLASH.
Oh.
You’re turning.
THANK YOU. 😂

That indicator was about as useful as someone shouting “Mind the step!” after you’ve already fallen down the stairs.

I could have pulled out safely approximately six birthdays ago.
But apparently your destination was classified information.
And my absolute favourite…

They slow down.
They turn.
Then they WAVE at you.
Oh, bless you. 👋😂
You know what would have helped more than the royal wave?

YOUR INDICATOR.

Used sometime during the same calendar year as the manoeuvre.

Indicators are not spoilers.

You’re allowed to reveal the ending before the final scene.

Nobody is sitting there thinking…

“DON’T TELL ME! I want to guess whether the Vauxhall is turning left.” 😭
And for those who don’t indicate at all…
I can only assume you’re saving the bulbs for Christmas. 🎄✨

Because meanwhile, everyone else is sitting at junctions unnecessarily waiting for you to reveal your next move like it’s the final answer on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Indicators are communication.
Used properly, they help other people make safe decisions and keep traffic moving.

So if you hate being held up…
Maybe don’t be the reason somebody else is. 😏

What’s worse no indicator at all, or the completely pointless indicator..

🐎 The First to Lead the Way

Before the engines filled the air,
Before the headlights lit the night,
The horse would guide the traveller home,
With quiet strength and faithful might.

No painted lines, no traffic lights,
No sat nav showing where to turn,
Just hoofbeats echoing through the land,
And lessons every soul could learn.

They carried harvests, hopes and dreams,
Through frozen dawns and summer heat,
Long before a single tyre
Had ever touched a village street.

They asked for little in return,
A gentle hand, a trusted guide,
Together building roads and paths
Where future generations’d ride.

Today those roads are filled with speed,
Impatience often leads the way,
Yet horses still have every right
To travel safely every day.

A roar of tyres, a blaring horn,
Can turn calm courage into fear,
One careless choice, one rushed mistake,
Can change a life in moments here.

So when you meet a horse ahead,
Ease off the speed and take your time,
A few more seconds on your day
May stop a tragedy in time.

Respect is never hard to give,
Kindness costs no penny more,
Remember every mile you drive
Was walked by horses long before.

For roads are shared, not ours alone,
Their story still deserves a place,
The greatest journeys first began
At nothing more than walking pace.
