WATER LEAK !!!!! Arhhhh.
Water leaks are the worst. There’s hardly any garages in the area that are willing to take on vehicles with water ingress but we do here at Bodyworks, we’re not scared 👍
The following pictures as an example is of a Nissan Juke.
Usually by the time you found out you have a water leak it’s got to the extent where the sound Deadening, insulation and the carpet are all waterlogged and it manifests on top of the carpet. Other signs can be condensation in the morning on your windows on the inside plus
mould appearing on the seats and seatbelts.
Bear with me as this is a long process to describe. basically we have to strip out the whole interior of the vehicle which includes front and rear seats, boot floor, trims and carpet, quarter panel inner trims, centre console, silll panel trims, seatbelts, all soundproofing and foam underlay and the carpet. Once they are all removed, we dry the Vehicle inside then we proceed to find the leak if you’re lucky the leak is around the boot area. It’s a lot more complicated when the leak is coming from the front bulkhead area. once the leak has been found using a hose to wet check all the apertures, we rectify the leak and once this is hundred percent confirmed we put the car back together. Prior to this all the interior carpets and underlay all need to be hung up and dried out before the vehicle is put back together and unfortunately this is not the time of the year for these items to dry quickly. We will need the vehicle for around a week although majority of the time we put the car back together minus the carpet then leave it for a few weeks to fully dry then just need the car for half a day just to refit the carpet again, the average cost of a repair like this is usually around 6hrs labour @ £65+vat an hour although can vary either way depending on the vehicle but this is a rough guide.
if you have a similar issue, please feel free to contact us and we are always willing to help especially when other garages don’t 👍
