EVERY BREAKDOWN DESERVES RECOVERY.
Over recent weeks, these green ribbons have been appearing across the Gwalia Recovery fleet.
To many, they may simply look like stickers on the side of our recovery trucks.
To us, they mean so much more.
Today, 31 July, marks five years since we lost Dad.
For our family, this is a date that will always carry enormous meaning.
Today, we remember Dad not only for the business he helped build, but for the kindness, compassion and selflessness that defined the man he was.
Gwalia Recovery began with my grandparents, my uncle and my father, Howell. Together they laid the foundations of the family business. Mum and Dad then dedicated their lives to building on that legacy, growing Gwalia Recovery into the company we proudly continue today.
Helping people wasn’t just what Dad did.
It was who he was.
That spirit of helping others continues to guide everything we do at Gwalia Recovery today.
Day or night.
Whatever the weather.
If someone needed help, he was there.
On 31 July 2021, we lost Dad, and our family experienced first-hand the devastating impact of su***de.
It’s not something we’ve spoken about publicly very often, but it is part of our family’s story—and the reason this message now has a place across our fleet.
For five years, we’ve carried this as a family.
Today, we’re sharing our story because if it helps just one person reach out for help, then sharing it will have been worth it.
Every day, our recovery operators meet people at difficult moments.
A breakdown.
A collision.
An unexpected journey coming to a sudden stop.
What our family learned is that not every breakdown happens on the roadside.
Some happen quietly.
Some happen behind closed doors.
Some happen behind a smile.
Often, those who appear strongest are carrying the greatest burdens.
While our job is to recover vehicles, we must never lose sight of the people behind them.
These green ribbons are far more than a sticker.
They are a reminder to check in on your mates.
To make that phone call.
To ask someone how they’re really doing.
And, just as importantly, to know that asking for help is never a sign of weakness.

You don’t have to carry the burden on your own.
