This beautiful VW Baywindow has arrived at the workshop for an exciting full transformation.

The project will consist of a Subaru 2.0L SOHC engine conversion paired with a Freeway Flyer gearbox for improved cruising and reliability. Upgrades will also include Lite-Steer electric power steering, a stainless steel exhaust system, front brake and servo-assisted braking upgrades, upgraded driveshafts, and a 3-speed heater system — making this Baywindow ready for comfortable all-year-round driving.

A fantastic build ahead and we’re looking forward to bringing this one to life.

Morning all,
We have just received an email from one of our customers:

"Hello - you put in a power steering system into my 1979 T2 WV camper van about 17 years ago. - but the van is rusted and sad..So I am buying another van, a 1976 T2 (late bay) Devon Eurovette conversion from a delivery van. Is it possible to transfer the power steering into the new van or is it too old?"

This certainly makes you realize how far we have come! Since this kit was made, our system has been evolving! From the telescopic lower shaft - that ensures the unit sites on to the floor correctly (usually after new floors have been fitted!) to the GPS box that adjusts the speed sensitivity (Our systems have always been speed sensitive, but the GPS version we have developed has made improvements to this feature).

We also now manufacture our own top steering wheel shafts in house. Thanks to our milling and turning CNC machines, we can now manufacture custom steering shafts to specification for many other applications from replica cars to one off race cars and Hot rods.

Who knows where the next 17 years will take us!!

Well. That's a wrap. 2025 has been quite a year for us. And to finish with this unique Toyota was cool. Have a great Christmas one and all. See you in 2026!
