A message from Simon, the Hambledon lock keeper.

Good morning everyone!
I have been asked by a few people, whether it is likely that the river will be usable over the Easter Werkend.
Below are a few photos detailing the current position at Hambleden Lock.
The higher part of the tail lay-by remains under a few inches of water, the lower section is totally submerged. The field below the lock resembles a large lake. The flow here is still up above 170m3/Sec. The tail water level is 11’3”, that is 3’6” above normal summer levels.
With most weirs still fully open and the water levels only dropping very slowly, due to the amount of places where the river is out of bank, the river is unlikely to be safe to use over the weekend in my humble opinion.

A rather chilly morning for a Slipper delivery to Woottens Boatyard! Rocky stayed at home for this one saying it's about time I managed on my own.

It's been busy helping at Woottens Boatyard taking boats out of the water on to the hard for winter storage and filling out the shed for renovation and repairs. Woottens look after some lovely old boats, as well as newer ones.
