Hi everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am looking forward to working with you soon to get your full driving licence or to help you improve your current driving skills and help build your confidence on today's busy roads. It all started when I was asked repeatedly to help a young lady who lived across the road from me to learn to drive several years ago. Almost as soon as I started teaching, I knew it was for me. She and I both enjoyed our lessons together and she went on to pass. She had said many times throughout that I ought to do this for a living. At the time, I was not so confident but gradually the idea grew on me. I finally agreed to look into it and decided that, yes, this is what I would indeed like to do for a living from now on. After doing my research, I joined a large motoring school and started to train. Taking their advice, I went on to a PDI badge (Potential Driving Instructor) which was valid for six months. This meant I was able to teach pupils within those first six months while having to take a qualifying test, the ADI Part 3 (the teaching test). I have helped many people pass and have received recommendations and praise from Test Centre Managers. You will see feedback from the early days in the feedback section of my website. I then went on to pass my final ADI Part 3 (Advanced Driving Instructor) so I am now fully qualified with a Green Badge. What can I do for you? I can offer you 100% of my attention at all times in a modern dual controlled car and a structured programme according to your progress with positive and constructive feedback each lesson. I am very calm and patient and love meeting new people and making friends so this work is absolutely ideal for me. I will go at your pace and any age or gender is fine with me. I do not shout at you or other road users - why would anyone!? I like to make our lessons fun and hope as time goes on you look forward to your lessons. It is sad when the lessons finish and pupils move on but pleasingly some still stay in touch for future advice. Discounts are offered for ten or more lessons, payable in advance. I take everything I do seriously and only teach people who are serious about learning to drive and will actually find the time to have their driving lessons with me when booked. I aim to get referrals then I know people are happy with me and more importantly, I am doing a great job! My goal is to put good quality, high standard drivers on the road so they can enjoy happy and safe motoring for many years to come. I am based in Tenbury Wells Wr15 and cover the following areas: Tenbury Wells, Burford, Hallow, Pensax, Bliss Gate, Callow Hill, Wyre Forest, Clows Top, Bayton, Mamble, Rock, Cleobury Mortimer, Ludlow, Cleehill, and Surrounding Villages. WHAT DOES INDEPENDENCE MEAN TO YOU?

We use the word independence a lot when we talk about healthy ageing.

But I've been wondering what it actually means to different people.

For one person it might be driving themselves wherever they want to go.

For someone else it might be...

• Living in their own home
• Walking into town
• Doing their own shopping
• Looking after the garden
• Travelling and exploring
• Cooking their own meals
• Meeting friends without relying on somebody else
• Looking after a pet
• Simply being able to decide, “I'm going out today” and go

They're ordinary things.

Until they're not.

Perhaps that's one reason my thinking around healthy ageing has changed.

I'm becoming less interested in the number on the birthday card and much more interested in protecting the freedom to live life on our own terms, wherever reasonably possible.

We can't control everything that happens as we get older.

But we can appreciate the freedoms we have today and do what we reasonably can to look after ourselves for tomorrow.

So I'm throwing this one over to you:

What does independence mean to YOU?

And is there one ordinary thing you hope you'll still be doing for yourself many years from now?

I'd love to hear some answers because I suspect they'll all be very different.

🚗 CAN YOU ALREADY DRIVE, BUT NEED HELP GETTING TEST-READY?

I'm introducing a new service from Gordon's Motoring School, specifically for people who can already drive to a reasonable standard but want professional help preparing for their practical driving test, particularly in Ludlow.

You may have learned with family or friends.

You may already drive confidently from A to B.

You may even feel you're nearly at test standard.

But being able to drive isn't quite the same as being ready for the driving test.

An examiner will be looking at the whole drive.

Are you observing properly?

Are you checking mirrors and blind spots at the right time?

Are you planning ahead rather than reacting at the last moment?

Are you anticipating what other road users might do?

Are your decisions safe and appropriate?

And can you demonstrate that consistently throughout the test?

That's where I can help.

I've been teaching in and around Ludlow for over 15 years, so I know the area extremely well.

We won't be trying to memorise "test routes". Instead, we'll drive extensively around Ludlow, covering the different roads, junctions, roundabouts and situations you're likely to encounter so that the area itself doesn't become another thing to worry about on test day.

YOUR CAR • MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC

These sessions are carried out in your own car, so you can prepare in the vehicle you already know and intend to use.

Because there are no instructor dual controls, this service is only suitable for people who can already drive independently to a reasonable and safe standard. It isn't intended for complete beginners.

We can concentrate our time on identifying the things that could make the difference between simply being able to drive and demonstrating a safe, thoughtful, test-standard drive.

A Little Update From Me...

Have you ever found that life takes you somewhere you never expected?
What new direction has your own life taken over the years?

If you've followed Gordon's Motoring School for a while, you'll probably know that life outside the driving-school car has changed quite a bit over the years.

I'm still teaching people to drive and still enjoying that wonderful moment when someone hears the words "You've passed!"

But alongside the driving school, a few other areas of my life have developed that have become increasingly important to me.

SafeSpace has changed.

What originally developed around counselling has evolved into something much simpler and, I believe, much more accessible.

SafeSpace is now about human connection, conversation and support.

Sometimes people aren't looking for counselling or therapy. They simply want someone to talk to, someone who will listen, and somewhere they can speak without judgement or pressure.

That's increasingly where my heart is with SafeSpace, particularly helping people experiencing loneliness, isolation or simply finding life a little difficult.

I'm also now permanently based at Tenbury Wells Library every Wednesday from 9:30am to 12:30pm, helping with Citizens Advice.

That's become another really rewarding part of my week. Being able to sit down with local people, listen to what's happening in their lives and help them find practical support has reinforced something I've believed for a long time:

Sometimes knowing where to turn, or simply having somebody take the time to listen, can make an enormous difference.

I've also recently started an entirely separate new chapter with Gordon Winters Wellness & Nutrition, working with wellness.club.

That's allowing me to explore another long-standing interest of mine: everyday wellbeing, nutrition, healthy ageing, active living and helping people make positive changes in their lives.

So although you may originally have followed me because of driving lessons, there's quite a lot happening outside the car these days!

Massive congratulations to Haiden Preece on passing his practical driving test FIRST TIME at Ludlow on 23.07.2026! 🚗🎉

An outstanding achievement with only two driver faults, which is an exceptional result and so richly deserved.

We've been on a long journey together, but every lesson has been worthwhile. Thank you, Haiden, for making every Tuesday morning lesson interesting and enjoyable. It will certainly feel strange not seeing you each week!
