The DB4 GT Zagato is one of the most significant Aston Martins ever built.

We had the privilege of restoring this example some years ago, returning it to its original factory colour and carefully addressing the details that define these cars. At the time, the focus was authenticity and allowing the shape to speak for itself.

Today, the car is presented in a different shade and wearing a different registration. That is the nature of cars at this level. They pass through hands, tastes change, history continues.

What remains constant is the underlying craftsmanship and the importance of getting the fundamentals right. That principle underpins every project that leaves our workshop.

Not every car that comes through our doors is a full restoration. Some are here for what really matters underneath.

A few posts back we showed this car in bare metal, where every line is exposed and there is nowhere to hide.

This is the same private commission, now in paint.

The concept evolved into what was informally dubbed a “DB6 GT”. Wider arches, corrected stance and a bespoke wheel specification. Not a factory derivative. A one-off shaped around a very clear brief.

When the metalwork is resolved properly, paint should reveal it, not disguise it. The depth and clarity of the finish allow the reshaped panels and refined proportions to speak for themselves.

The overall vision included one of our proposed 4.7 litre fuel injected engine specifications, developed to deliver in excess of 400bhp and engineered to complement the wider track and revised geometry. A complete package, considered from surface to drivetrain.
