New patented ‘screw’ Instead of a Torx, hex, or any other recognisable screw head, this one is shaped like BMW’s roundel… so only BMW can turn it, someone better make a tool that fits this pretty sharpish!

Gordon Murray Automotive set a record over the weekend in Las Vegas - the sale of the very first GMA S1 LM chassis at a special RM Sotheby’s auction, with the hammer falling at $20.63m. That’s almost £15.8m, and makes this the most expensive new car ever sold at auction. If you don’t count cars auctioned off for charity, that is.

GMA plans to build just 5 of these models, and anyone who bags one of these 5 gets sit-down sessions with Gordon Murray himself to determine how the car will be spec’d. There will be development drive sessions, where the owner can provide some feedback for the engineering team. Three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti will also be in attendance at those sessions.

However, over 20 million dollars for a supercar that no one has driven yet….

Seems a new trend of car manufacturers bringing out new models using the names of 80’s & 90’s legends!

Renault are back with the 5…. Now, being a HUGE fan of Renaults here at Speed6 we’re not entirely sure how this sits with us, it looks fantastic both exterior and interior but there won’t be the same tones as the stunning Renault 5 GT TURBO that was released back in 1985.

Renault state:

This soon-to-be iconic city car rewrites the rules to launch R5, Super5 and R5 Turbo into the future. The goal is to make electric cars widespread in Europe.

Like the R5 back in its day, a popular and essential car but with a modern twist: silent, high-tech, environmentally friendly and cheeky.

All the same R5 fun, styling, proportions enhanced by a contemporary design: more rugged wheel arches, streamlined roof profile, boxier bodywork and more. The smile on the front end is still there... a nice little detail!

Iconic details get enhanced: bonnet air intake morphed into a charging flap, discrete LEDs power the logo and lighting signature, flush-fit rear lights inspired by aeronautics, and so much more. The soft-top roof highlights a determination to use innovative materials.
