Next up is Steven Gates, our Principal and Director of Select. Having founded the business nearly 10 years ago, Steven has been at the heart of the journey from day one, helping shape Select into the business it is today.

Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking his dogs Baxter and Chester, and travelling with his wife, Caroline. Living just 1.5 miles from the office, he’s also one of the few people who can genuinely say he walks to work every day!

Our most popular lease cars of 2026 so far - and the Jaecoo 7 is continuing its meteoric rise to prominence...

Family-friendly models dominate the Top 10 lists for both ‘most enquired’ and ‘sales’, with eight of the most-leased vehicles being medium-sized SUVs or smaller crossovers.

Four of the top 10 are fully electric - which outstrips the wider industry trend, with BEVs currently occupying a 20.9% market share of new car registrations as a whole for the year-to-date (according to the latest update from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, or SMMT).

The Jaecoo 7 was launched in the UK at the beginning of 2025. And since that point, it has enjoyed the sort of success that happens once in a generation. Available with petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, this medium-sized SUV tops the charts for Select’s enquiries and sales stats for the 2026 so far. The Jaecoo 7 appears to be particularly popular in the leasing market.

Ultra-rapid ‘Flash Charging’ for electric vehicles has been demonstrated in the UK for the first time - and it could put a rocket up the entire EV market.

The name ‘Flash Charging’ refers to proprietary tech from Chinese manufacturer BYD. The idea is simple; wouldn’t it be good if you could recharge an EV in (roughly) the same amount of time that it takes to fill a tank of petrol and pop into the shop to pay for it?

BMW smallest proper M car - the unmistakable M2 - is getting an all-wheel drive system for the first time.

Tinkering with the classic M2 format is a risky strategy, however, particularly as the boxy coupe was BMW’s best-selling performance car in 2025.

Lotus has revealed its lightest and most powerful Emira (https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0wdKl50) yet, as its junior supercar becomes even more capable.

The Emira 420 Sport is being billed as a ‘pure expression of the Lotus DNA’, with the British firm having long been driven by an ethos of ‘simplify, then add lightness’.

Tipping the scales at around 1,430kg, the Emira 420 Sport is 25kg lighter than the Emira Turbo and generates 25kg of additional downforce.
