Could manual cars disappear by 2030?

According to new analysis from VDG, manual transmission vehicles now account for just 13.7% of the market, with demand continuing to decline as manufacturers focus on automatic, hybrid and electric models.

Among petrol and diesel car buyers, the share choosing manual gearboxes has fallen from 55% in 2019 to 34% in 2025.
VDG believes that while manual cars may still represent 5-10% of the market by 2030, manufacturers could increasingly question whether it makes commercial sense to continue developing and producing them.

From a spare room in Devon to the LEGO review stage in just 44 days! 🧱🚗
A fan-built LEGO Renault 5 Turbo 3E has reached the magic 10,000-supporter milestone on LEGO Ideas, meaning it could become an official LEGO set.
The model, created by engineer Dave Collins, will even be displayed alongside the real Renault 5 Turbo 3E at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
