While I waited for the tide to come back in I couldn't resist having a go for the mullet. I went and hand dug some rag from the mud and winkled out this scrappy Essex bone fish. Still been mad busy and still taking hardly any pics unfortunately. We've had steady numbers of hounds over the last few trips and several nice chunky bass too.
There's been a nice bit of variety too with a few Dover sole last week. We even had sine (now all too elusive) thorn-back rays! They were all tihy though. As we'd expect this time of year we've had a few tope pups mixed in too.
I'm looking forward to starting another run of offshore bass trips now. Hopefully the weather and fish continue to play ball.
I have a few individual spaces before we head off to Falmouth and start our tuna fishing.

Needed a break from it today. I've got to keep on top of maintenance and I wanted to clean my bottom again. As you can see, I like to dress in rubber on my day off. I like to show you some of variety we can catch. We've had a couple of Dover sole recently. They are such funny little characters. I do like their little fluffy faces. The summer madness is keeping me busy as always. I've had a few different trips this week including some sight seeing trips where I didn't take any pics of seals and 4hr fishing trips where I didn't take any pics of the fish! Luckily Ben sent some through from Charlies birthday trip.
Fishing was on fire with some cracking bass and hounds. Not to mention the weather too. The boys are certainly lots bigger than their first trips with me and hopefully they will be putting their strength to the test on the bft in a few weeks.
I have limited availability before I head to Cornwall, a few days left for tuna from Falmouth and bookings are starting to come in for the autumn bass fishing in Essex.

Helping another decent bass get back to where she once belong. Once again I let these bigger ones recover on the lip grip for a few minutes until they are swimming strongly before releasing (like we do with the bft) . It seems to be working well.
