The farm sits on the end of a sand belt which runs from Somerset to the sea. Consequently the free draining soil is perfect for growing vegetables, salads and soft fruit. The dairy herd was replaced in 2001 by a small herd of North Devon beef cattle. Also to be found on the farm are Middle White cross pigs, Polled Dorset cross sheep and some hens. These animals play an important part in enriching the land. The farm shop (which replaced a small shed!) was completed in April 2000, enlarged in April 2003 and again in June 2006. The main aim is to sell quality produce from local producers and businesses. The licensed Farmer's Kitchen opened shortly after the Farm Shop. A wide menu is available, featuring seasonal ingredients and our own vegetables, salad and meat, when available. Breakfast, Lunch and Afternoon Tea are served daily. On the farm there are two comfortable self-catering cottages converted from a 17th century farm building. The cottages sleep between 4 and 5 people and are ideal for families. This is also a ten pitch caravan site (adults only). The views from the site are beautiful, over Bridport & West Bay. All pitches are on hard standing and are fully serviced with grey waste disposal, electricity and water connection.

🍂 Well hello, October. We see you’ve brought the good stuff.🍏🎃🍎🍐🫜
Apples, pears, pumpkin, squash, quince and parsnips are all having their moment, and there are some brilliant seasonal bargains to be found too.

It’s also a great time to gather up fruits berries and veg, and turn them into something delicious for later - preserves, pickles and chutneys. Alittle bit of autumn in a jar. 🌿 🥒 🍅🍆
Keep an eye out in your local supermarkets too for more Dorset and British produce, especially as the shelves start to fill with the flavours of autumn. You don’t have to spend a fortune to eat well.

And don’t forget your local weekly markets, the monthly Dorset Farmers Markets and farm shops. They’re great places to find seasonal produce, meet the people behind it and pick up something you might not have planned on buying. 😉

Update as of 13:20.

Road is still open with no sign of any work being done.

Update at 1.20 - Washingpool say the road still open!

We've just spoken to Washingpool Farm and they are going to be accessible from the south during the upcoming road closure, so you will have no problem getting to them from Bridport.

When the road is actually closed (it is still flowing both ways at the moment - Tuesday 22nd morning) you won't be able to get beyond Washingpool to the Westway Business park, but the businesses there can be accessed from the north - so you will need to detour.
