Late night b***y call to this little gem of a fishing boat last night. 💤

Customer stated engine not running well and required assistance.
Checked hoses, air filter and then fitted a new pre filter and connections back up and awaiting sea trials but she starts on the button so 🤞

Custom GRP fuel tanks being made ready to fit.
There will be 2 in total, 1 each side of the hull complete with balance pipe between them.
P.s, a couple more holes to drill in the very bottom of the baffles too as left because the glass was still not fully cured on the seams.

In the workshop this week we welcome this Predator 160 named Aurora.

As you can see the plywood deck was rotten and the foam waterlogged.
We completed the installation of new bulkheads, stringers with drain channels in place to allow any water to go straight to the back with a drain b**g in place so it can be checked and kept a closer eye on, glassed the seat boxes back in place also. The underside of the new plywood decks were GRP sheaved before installing them and then complete in white and dark grey non slip finish.
Should be good for a fair few years from now on.

Good luck Ross Woolridge with your new toy and enjoy the summer.

This commercial fishing Starfish has arrived with us.
The vessel is required to undergo work so conform to ‘New’ build specification to achieve its place back on the UK fishing register even though it’s already on it! The powers to be say so! ( The boat is 40yrs old).
This vessel will be set up for rod & line bass fishing and some netting.
Let’s get to work.

A quick pit stop for this charter boat. Gearbox change, in and out no problem. Old one had a small oil leak so owner wanted to change it for the spare one they have. All done in the water which saves £££££ on lifts and downtime.

So with a phone call from a fisherman who has had a very bad experience from a ‘so called’ professional north west marine engineer who he had instructed to install two brand new iveco N60 engines.
Well the steam home he smelled burning, investigating the situation showed up the guy had simply not aligned the engines at all and the were rubbing the bottom of the stern tubes.
He called and asked if I could help him.
Anyway a short 5 hour drive to catch a ferry to the Isle Of Man, work began by removing rudders, shafts, seals, props cutless bearings etc.

Stern tubes were cleaned of grease and lightly sanded inside to remove the debris. (Made an on-site sweeper style sander) 😂
2 new sections were spigoted onto the existing tubes and glasses in making the damaged sections hood and strong again.
New cutless bearings, new shafts installed and engines fully aligned bang on.
3 long hard days graft but a happy fisherman now ready to go back to work.
For me another mamouth 10 hour journey back home.
No job too small or too far away.

A big thanks to Martin of Lentern engineering for the lathe work turning down the added sections of stern tubes.
Thank you to the Isle Of Man for the hospitality and also the boatyard and B&B for being very helpful.
