On the back of "Beneath the Surface" we started looking at another offshore spot with potential, only this time, instead of being in the reasonably familiar zone of NW Ireland, it was right down off the coast of South West Europe- requiring a solid delivery across Biscay and beyond to reach in time for the autumn 2016 swells. The filming of this next mission was done by a bigger crew (up to 11 of us aboard) and pushed the boat pretty much to her limit in terms of the number of pelly cases one little Wharram cat could reasonably be expected to carry! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Mr8ETYGCc

Winter filming in 2015-2016 was all about a mysto big wave spot we had passed, and wondered at, in 2012 when we first took Hecate to Ireland. As it turned out Cotty and Al Mennie and others had already been looking at this place, but it was so far offshore that no-one had got to spend much time out there in really big surf, due to the inhospitable nature of the setup, and risks involved in taking skis out that far without serious backup. The spot remained in my mind like an annoying itch for a couple of years, and over time, after many conversations with Cotty and Mikey, and with support from Cotty's sponsors Redbull, what seemed like a mad idea became a plan, and then reality.. here is the result: https://www.redbull.tv/film/AP-1NN82RUJ91W11/beneath-the-surface
