THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT - Just some friendly help.
Its been 2 months now since I cancelled my broadband and phone line.
My current Internet access in that time has not changed apart from a massive monthly saving in costs.
Why and how you might ask ?
Well - firstly each year in March my broadband and mobile phone contracts went up by 6.5% yet I gained nothing. Now on the original £26 per month Ok but last year the increases amounted to 6.5% on nearly £40 for broadband and mobile phone.
So I decided, as I needed a new phone anyway I would consider options.
Change providers ? Starts cheaper but still 6.5% per year increase !
Do I need high speed broadband ? Landline or fibre ? No
What do I use daily ?
Email, Facebook, Youtube, general browsing, shopping etc.
All day ? No
So I looked at new phones and deals for mobile broadband Gigabits per month and, after checking, I found my monthly useage was between 60 to 80 digabits per month.
So I tested my computers with my old phone, having discnnected my broadband router, to see if mobile data would work.
IT DID !!
So I bit the bullet and ordered a new phone with a 100 gigabit data plan.
New phone - great - just what I wanted.
New broadband setup - great - £16 per month fixed for 3 years and 100 gigabit allowance per month. I use on average 70 gigs per month and that includes watching movies on My5 !!
Over 3 years thats a saving of more than £1000 !!
Down side ? NON - come home - switch computers on - plug in mobile phone - instant Internet access.
Now if you are an internet gamer or watch 4k movies it will probable not work for you. But for everything else - no problem.
If you are in a 5G network area - well thats even better. Mine is 4G and occasionally 5G. 3G is dead now anyway.
Worth thinking about !
