Work along Manchester Road (Didsbury to Cheadle village) is expected to last through until July. Motorists cannot access Cheadle village from the direction of Parrs Wood.

The work on Manchester Road - between Cheadle and Parrs Wood in Didsbury - is already causing a few headaches

Please note that works to improve the Manchester Road/High Street/Stockport Road junction in Cheadle Village is planned to start on 11 March until June 2019.

There will be traffic disruption during the works as the main temporary traffic management measure to take place will be to make Manchester Road one way between High Street/Stockport Road to the entrance to Cheadle Village Green. This will mean that vehicles will still be able to enter Manchester Road from High Street/Stockport Road and travel north along Manchester Road.

However vehicles will not be able to access High Street/Stockport Road from Manchester Road and will need to follow the diversion of Manchester Road (north bound) to the A34 Kingsway traffic signals, left onto the A34 Kingsway, along the A34 Kingsway south bound to the A560 Gatley Road junction, turning left into Gatley Road, then straight ahead onto High Street, Cheadle.

This diversion route will be signed and advanced warning signs advising that no access to High Street/Stockport Road will be erected on the A34 and along Manchester Road itself prior to the works commencing.
