Happy Friday! 😁
Take a look at this 2016 Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost we had in this week. This customer dropped their car in with us to diagnose an engine management light, occasional oil pressure light, and a hard brake pedal. After a quick diagnostics scan, we knew we had to remove the sump pan to take a look at the strainer. We found heavy blockage of deteriorated rubber belt, which causes oil starvation to the engine, which then causes the oil light to illuminate or flicker. The vehicle also had vacuum pump issues. After removing the vac pump, we also found the sliding vanes inside the pump to be broken up, which is also caused by oil starvation, but not something we commonly see to be effected.
After carefully examining the engine and components, we fitted a new timing belt including water pump and a new vacuum pump, and luckily the vehicle now runs smoothly and quietly with no lights on the dashboard!
Whilst this ‘wetbelt’ is a common issue with Fords, Peugeots, Citroens and now Hondas, it can be easily avoided by keeping up with regular oil services.
