💼 Our refurbishment process for automatic Powershift gearbox, particularly the complex dual-clutch systems like the 6DCT450 and 6DCT451 (MPS6) used in many Ford and Volvo vehicles, is a detailed and technical process. This process involves several key steps, each requiring specialised skills and equipment. Here's an overview of the typical refurbishment process:

1. Initial Diagnosis: The process begins with a thorough diagnostic check. This includes using specialised diagnostic tools to read any fault codes from the vehicle's onboard computer and a road test to understand the gearbox's behaviour.

2. Removal of the Gearbox: The gearbox is carefully removed from the vehicle. This involves disconnecting the transmission from the engine, along with various sensors, cables, and hydraulic lines.

3. Disassembly: Once removed, the gearbox is completely disassembled. This is a meticulous task requiring careful handling and organisation of all parts. The gearbox consists of numerous components, such as the clutch assembly, gears, bearings, seals, and the mechatronic unit (the electronic control unit combined with hydraulic control).

4. Cleaning and Inspection: All components are thoroughly cleaned using professional-grade solvents and tools. After cleaning, each part is inspected for wear, damage, or any other issues. This step is crucial for identifying which parts need to be replaced or repaired.

5. Replacement of Worn or Damaged Parts: Common parts that often need replacement include the clutch assembly, seals, bearings, and various small components. In Powershift gearboxes, particular attention is paid to the dual-clutch assembly, which will be replaced in all refurbished gearboxes; the mechatronic unit, which will be refurbished with brand new solenoids, clutch cover and filters, also will be brand new.

6. Rebuilding the Gearbox: The gearbox is carefully reassembled after all necessary parts are replaced or repaired. This requires precision and attention to detail, ensuring everything is aligned correctly and torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.

7. Refilling with Fluid: The gearbox is then refilled with the correct type and amount of transmission fluid. The fluid is crucial for lubrication, cooling, and hydraulic operation within the gearbox.

8. Reinstallation: The rebuilt gearbox is reinstalled in the vehicle, ensuring that all connections and alignments are perfect.

9. Software and Calibration: Once the gearbox is back in the vehicle, the mechatronic unit often requires reprogramming or recalibration to ensure it communicates effectively with the vehicle's onboard computer.

10. Test Drive and Quality Check: The vehicle undergoes another road test to ensure the gearbox functions correctly. This includes checking for smooth gear changes, responsive acceleration, and overall performance. Any final adjustments are made at this stage.

11. Warranty and Aftercare: After the refurbishment process, a warranty period is 6 months with unlimited mileage.
