🚗 Fantastic progress from Izzy today! 👏

Reverse bay parking has been one of Izzy’s biggest challenges, and normally when we approach a bay she needs a little prompt to help her judge her position, often ending up on the line and needing to correct the manoeuvre.

But today was a different story! 🎉

Izzy successfully reversed into the bay independently, first time, with no prompts or help, and positioned the car within the lines to a test-standard level. 🙌

Izzy did say that if she were leaving the car there, she would make a small adjustment to straighten it up and make it neater — but for the purposes of the driving test, her positioning today would be absolutely fine. ✅

It’s brilliant to see the confidence and consistency developing, especially with a manoeuvre that has been her Achilles’ heel. 💪

Well done, Izzy — keep it up, mate! 🚗👏

🚗😂 THINGS YOUR DRIVING INSTRUCTOR IS THINKING…

Learner: “I’m really nervous about this roundabout.”

Me: “Don’t worry, we’ll take our time.” 😊

Also me internally:
Please look right… please look right… PLEASE LOOK RIGHT. 👀😂

But seriously…

I know learning to drive can feel overwhelming sometimes. You might stall, miss a gear, forget your mirrors, take the wrong exit or completely forget what you’ve been doing for the last 10 minutes! 🤦‍♂️😂

And that’s OKAY.

You’re learning — not auditioning for Formula 1. 🏎️

My job isn’t to make you feel rubbish when you make a mistake.

My job is to help you understand why it happened, learn from it and make sure you feel more confident the next time.

So if you’ve ever finished a lesson thinking:

“That was absolutely awful.” 😩

…there’s a good chance your instructor is thinking:

“Actually, they’ve come a long way.” ❤️

Keep going. The mistakes are part of the journey. 🚗💨

🚗 “TELL ME” QUESTIONS – UNDER THE BONNET 🔧

One of the things your examiner can ask you during your driving test is a “Tell Me” question about vehicle safety.

You’ll need to explain how you would carry out a safety check, without necessarily having to demonstrate it.

Some common questions include:

🔹 How would you check the engine oil level?
🔹 How would you check the coolant level?
🔹 How would you check the brake fluid level?

💡 TOP TIP: Don’t just memorise the answers — understand what you’re checking and why. It makes the questions much easier to remember!

📚 Knowing your “Tell Me” questions is an important part of being test-ready. We’ll make sure you’re confident with them before your test day! ✅

🚗 Something every learner driver needs to hear…

You don’t have to feel confident before you start learning to drive.

In fact, most people don’t.

It’s completely normal to feel nervous when you’re sitting behind the wheel for the first time, to stall the car, miss a gear, take a junction too slowly, or wonder how on earth everyone else makes driving look so easy. 😅

The important thing is that you keep learning and give yourself time.

Driving isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making mistakes, understanding what went wrong, and gradually building the confidence to deal with different situations.

And one day, you’ll look back and realise that the things that once made you nervous have become second nature. ❤️
