ANNOUNCEMENT — WE’VE LAUNCHED AN ONLINE SHOP!

We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes recently, and we’re pleased to say that the Redline online shop is now live!

You can now browse parts online and check out directly through the website, making it much easier to order from us.

The products we stock are parts and products we use and recommend ourselves, drawing on our 25 years of experience in the business. We want the shop to be made up of products we know, trust and are happy to put our name behind.

Please bear with us while we get everything uploaded. We currently have 300+ products planned for the shop, so there is plenty more still to come.

If there’s something specific you’re after and you can’t see it listed yet, please drop us an email. There’s a good chance we already have it available, and we may be able to fast-track it onto the website for you.

We’ll always aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible, although a small number of items may not currently be held in stock and could take a little longer.

This is really just the start of something much bigger for Redline. A much more comprehensive main shop site is planned for the next couple of months, but we’ve fast-tracked this simpler version to get things rolling and start making parts easier to order.

And for those asking… Redline merch is also on the way. 👀

1985 Marcos GT Coupe Project

First registered in 1985 on a Q-Prefix, this Marcos GT Coupe project has the foundations of a wonderfully useable classic with a ‘resto-mod’ feel. Subjected to extensive modification by Spydercars in 2014, this GT was fitted with a host of desirable upgrades: a Zetec engine drives a 5-speed Ford MT75 gearbox; adjustable wishbones and coilover suspension at each corner; a modern immobiliser system; and a new wiring loom.

This Marcos has covered covered only 1500 miles since the majority of the work carried out on it in 2014. Cosmetically, the car would benefit from some TLC. As can be seen in the pictures, the paintwork is most in need of attention; we believe it was resprayed around 2019 but in some areas, most notably the doors, roof and rear wings, the paint has not adhered to the fibreglass.

The interior appears to be largely original but presents well – brown carpets and cloth seats and contrasted nicely by a lighter colour leatherette. A walnut dashboard is inset with stylish Veglia gauges and a tasteful rocker switch panel.

Underneath, the chassis is in good condition. The Zetec engine has a raspy exhaust note and provides plenty of power to keep up with modern traffic. Though it does have a valid MOT, there are a few minor faults (speedometer not functioning, rubber gaiters split etc) which require attention before the car can go back on the road.

1971 MARCOS GT COUPE 3L VOLVO

Following the switch from wood to metal chassis, Marcos decided to fit the larger, 6-cylinder B30 engine into the classic GT shape. A sharp increase in power and torque gave the 3-litre Volvo models increased refinement and performance while maintaining the reliability offered by Volvo power units.

This 1971 example is in good, usable condition. The engine, paired with twin Stromberg carbs, bursts into life quickly and performs well under load. The drivetrain is completed by a 4-speed manual gearbox, which provides a slick gear change and good cruisability.

This Marcos encapsulates the ‘early seventies’ look with period 13″ Cosmic alloy wheels and white paintwork, which, although not concours, adds to its authenticity.

The interior, upholstered in black leather and cloth, is well used and, though usable, would benefit from a professional clean or refurbishment. A matching white Webasto sunroof gives you the chance to enjoy the sunshine while maintaining the graceful lines of the coupe.

We recently finished a complete restoration and modification of this Wooden Chassis Marcos 1600GT. Completed over a couple of stages we were given the task of creating a 1960's Marcos with modern features to bring the driving experience alive whilst bringing the cosmetics up to a perfect standard. The main features of this 'resto-mod' are listed below:

We would just like to thank the owner of this car for allowing us to influence the direction of this build and letting us carry out modifications that we always dreamed of doing. We are all extremely proud of the end result and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

New addition to our showroom!

1967 MARCOS 1600GT COUPE

Recently subjected to a partial restoration by its owner, this 1600GT is a good example of the wood-chassis, classic Marcos GT. Accompanied by an extensive folder of invoices, this car features numerous and highly-desirable improvements, including re-bushed and powder-coated suspension, trunnion-less uprights, larger brake calipers and Gaz adjustable coilovers on all corners.

Re-painted in Jaguar Opalescent Silver Blue and sitting on Wolfrace Slot Mag style wheels, the car presents well cosmetically. Almost all of the exterior trim is re-furbished or new, including the Webasto sunroof at a cost of £616 in 2024, and a host of other parts such as the rear window and chrome and rubber trim pieces. The interior trim presents in similar condition to the exterior, the vinyl and corduroy trim in good condition overall.

Under the bonnet, a 1600cc Ford Crossflow engine, sitting in a re-finished subframe, has been paired with a new Weber carburettor and a new exhaust exhaust system. A host of additions have been made for reliability and usability, including a compact alternator in place of the original dynamo, electronic ignition, a Coolex aluminium radiator and an updated wiring loom with additional fuses and relays.

Another price reduction! This time on the 1965 Marcos 1800 we have in for sale.

Introduced in 1964, the Marcos 1800GT utilised a development of Marcos’ revolutionary marine-plywood chassis. Made up of over 350 individual pieces glued together, the wooden tub was both lighter and stiffer than its steel counterparts, which, when paired with Volvo’s B18 4-cylinder engine, provided a unique driving experience.

This 1800 is well-known within club circles, having been previously owned for over 45 years by an enthusiastic owner. During their ownership and the ownership of the vendor, significant body and chassis restoration work was undertaken, in addition to a host of mechanical repairs and upgrades, including:
– Larger capacity Volvo B20 engine with twin Weber 42 carbs and a high compression head
– Close ratio 4 speed gearbox, refreshed in 2015 and accompanied by a new clutch, with overdrive
– Stainless steel exhaust system
– External oil cooler
– Custom high-capacity radiator

The larger capacity engine adds to the 1800s sporting credentials, providing plenty of power and more than enough torque to keep up with modern traffic. True to all wood chassis Marcos’, the driving experience is refined for a car of its era, with a large boot and ample interior space adding to its long journey capabilities.

Presented in haze metallic blue with black bumpers and wire wheels, the car is in superb cosmetic condition. The wood chassis has been coated with clear yacht varnish, allowing it to remain visible while being protected. The interior follows the same pattern, with its period-style aquamarine blue interior complimented by the wood motifs that can be seen throughout the car.
