Apologies for the quiet spell—we've been flat out! Lots of build updates coming soon, but first a critical reminder for all NC drivers:

👉 Check your engine oil level every 2 tanks of fuel! ⛽

A customer popped by today with a worrying engine rattle. We knew the cause immediately, killed the ignition, and had to add over 2 litres of oil just to get a reading on the dipstick.

Check out the state of these bearing shells attached 😱—oil starvation acts fast! Luckily, because it was caught just in time, we’re confident we can save this engine without a full engine-out rebuild or replacement/reground crankshaft.

A 2-minute dipstick check every few fill-ups can literally save you thousands. Don't risk it—check yours today!

We start the week with yet another MX-5 owner dissatisfied with a remap carried out by a third party. Third party quotes 226BHP, yet our dyno reads 210BHP! Installation of our base map brings the power up to 215BHP and after two hours of optimisation for the owners hardware - 4-2-1 manifold and BBR Cams, a further 4BHP and optimum torque curve is achieved.

We are increasingly seeing power figures and gains quoted elsewhere with no dyno graph (just quoted figures), or highly questionable proof. NC’s on standard cams achieving over 190BHP yet making low 170’s on our own dyno, gains quoted of over 8BHP on previously BBR mapped cars only to find the actual power is less.

MX-5 owners are being taken advantage of and this is turning into a recently reoccurring theme. Whilst it’s great to see plenty of available options, ask yourself the following:

• Are the power figures being quoted actually achievable? NC’s and even ND’s have been tuned extensively globally now for over a decade, why all of a sudden are further gains magically being found?
• What experience does the company actually have of remapping? Years on your particular marque, or are they just using you and your car as a guinea pig?
• Are unrealistic dyno graphs being used showing power gains everywhere in the rev range and just a different correction factors being used?

I’ve just finished a long series of track days and competitions with the car, and I honestly have to say — the Miata has become everything I dreamed it would be.
The response, the character, the sound, the way the car comes alive on track… it’s truly something special.

I still haven’t had the chance to install the updated ITB linkage hardware you kindly sent me, mainly because most workshops here in Israel are currently operating in a very limited capacity due to the ongoing war situation.

But even before installing the update, I wanted to take a moment and thank you all for the time, effort, patience, tuning work, and support throughout this entire process — especially Neil. Your willingness to keep refining the setup and helping me chase the “perfect” result really means a lot.

Thank you again for creating such an incredible package and for standing behind it the way you do.

A weeks never complete without the delivery of a new BBR Turbo or Supercharged MX-5. Ron collected his Stage One Supercharged conversion following his desire for more power after just 3 months of ownership! Fully road legal and UK MOT compliant along with our catted manifold and most importantly, over a 90BHP bhp gain! Another happy BBR client :)

Those who have known us decades will know we've had a very long association with Ford. When we were approached by a very good client to supply them with a brand new Mustang and build something special, of course, challenge accepted!

A focus on Mazda MX-5 NC forced induction with a further six BBR examples, three BBR Turbo's (two to France) and three BBR Supercharged conversions, two 300BHP+ installed this week!

The BBR turbo, proven 100’s of times over the last decade, today it still remains the ultimate RHD turbo conversion embarrassing even new third party pieced together offerings. 100% developed in house (no third party manifolds/downpipes etc), BBR cast iron manifold and stainless downpipe, A286/stainless fixings, Garrett ball bearing turbocharger, internally wastegated 0.86 turbine housing (remaining the very best compressor/turbine setup for the 2.0 Duratec today), custom stainless water hardlines, custom stainless oil lines, custom smooth flowing silicone hoses retaining the OEM air box. Bosch EV14 matched injectors and T-MAP sensor. Sump oil drain (no invasive engine block modification), OEM battery maintained with no cutting/moving of ABS pump etc. DIY or fitted, simple Stage one (260HP) and Stage Two (300BHP) conversions (350+BHP possible with forged engine builds), instant throttle response with 200ft/lb available lower than 3500RPM!

The BBR NC Supercharger is the only conversion in our portfolio not fully developed inhouse, however both hardware and software have been redeveloped radically by BBR to facilitate 2.5 litre compatibility and standardise belt sizes. The ultimate FI package for track use with both DIY and fitted Stage One and Two (250/300BHP) conversions. Three fantastic Stage Two examples, one a more complete build along with brakes, and Yellow Speed Racing suspension, Eibach roll bars and BBR geo.
