To meet charging demand, by the end of December 2024, there were 87,796 electric vehicle charging points across the UK, across over 45,033 charging locations. This represents a 19.2% increase in the total number of charging devices since December 2024. The UK government has a target of installing 300,000 public EV chargers by 2030, this is almost 5 times the number of fuel pumps, to support the rise in the number of electric vehicles on the road.

When switching to an electric vehicle, as well as installing your own convenient at home charger, you will want to consider the locations of rapid charging stations along the route of any extended journeys you regularly take. Depending on the charger type and power, a full charge can take as little as 30 minutes. Many chargers are situated at motorway service stations as well as at shops, restaurants, gyms and workplaces.
