**The vibration that only happens when you accelerate hard.**

Normal driving? Fine. But the moment you put your foot down, there's a vibration through the steering wheel and the whole front end feels loose. You ease off and it disappears. Weird.

This is usually worn engine mounts. The rubber blocks that hold your engine in place are designed to absorb movement. When they wear, the engine rocks more under hard acceleration, and that movement transfers through the chassis.

It's not an immediate emergency. But it gets worse over time, and eventually you'll get other issues—worn gearbox mounts, damaged belts, the lot.

Catch it early and it's a straightforward fix.

**The rattle that only happens at idle.**

You're at the traffic lights and the car's idling. There's a rattle from somewhere in the engine bay. The moment you accelerate, it stops.

It's not loud. It's not scary. But it's there every single time you're stopped.

This is usually the heat shield. The metal shield that protects components from engine heat can come loose. When the engine's idling and vibrating at a certain frequency, the shield resonates and rattles.

It's not dangerous. But it's annoying.

Tighten it up and it's gone.

**The knock that sounds different depending on which road you're on.**

Smooth tarmac? Quiet. Bumpy road? CLUNK. Gravel? Different clunk entirely.

Different road surfaces expose different problems. Smooth roads don't stress the suspension. Bumpy roads do. Gravel roads do something else entirely.

If the noise changes dramatically based on the road surface, it's telling you something specific about which component's worn.

We can diagnose half the problem just by asking which roads make it worse.
