Workshop post
Here in the workshop today we have been very busy installing some new Heated grips to a Kawasaki Versys. The bike came in with some malfunctioning heated grips, so we started off by trying to diagnose what the problem was and whilst going through the wiring we discovered that the connectors had been wrapped in electrical tape meaning that the water could get in but not get out again flooding the connections. the heated grips where also wired straight onto the battery which we never recommend as it doesn't take much to accidentally leave them on when you have stopped on a ride out and then when you get back to your bike you have a flat battery.
We then proceeded to remove all of the old system and install the new grips and system including our method of wiring which as you can see we make a small incision into the main fuse circuit in the fuse box so that the grips only work when the ignition key is turned into the on position, preventing the battery drain.
I then proceeded to tidy the wiring up and secure it in a position so that the weather wouldn't get to it resulting in the same outcome.
If you would like to book your bike in with us to get a general check over, service, repair or MOT before The nice riding weather arrives please call us on 01205 356767
