🍦 Sometimes you've got to recognise when the team deserve a little treat! 🍦

The last few weeks have been incredibly busy at Autowerks, and when the temperatures rise and the workload doesn't slow down, it's important to look after the people who keep everything moving.

Yesterday, Kev decided it was time for a well-deserved ice cream for the team. A small gesture, but one that was definitely appreciated on such a hot day! β˜€οΈ

We're incredibly lucky to have a hardworking team that always goes the extra mile for our customers, and it's important to remember that a simple thank you can go a long way.

Cheers Kev! πŸ¦πŸ‘

πŸ” We’re Proud to Announce That Autowerks Ltd is Now SERMI Registered! πŸ”

Modern vehicles are becoming increasingly connected, with many repairs and diagnostic procedures requiring access to manufacturer security information.

SERMI (Security Related Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Information) is a Europe-wide scheme designed to ensure that only legitimate, vetted, and qualified businesses can access security-related vehicle data. This includes functions such as key programming, immobiliser systems, anti-theft components, security coding, and other protected manufacturer information.

As a SERMI-approved workshop, Autowerks has undergone independent assessment and verification to demonstrate that we meet the strict requirements for accessing this information safely, securely, and legally.

What does this mean for our customers?

βœ… Access to security-related manufacturer repair information
βœ… Ability to carry out more advanced repairs and programming procedures
βœ… Compliance with the latest industry regulations
βœ… Confidence that your vehicle is being worked on by a trusted and approved repairer
βœ… Continued investment in training, equipment, and industry standards

As vehicles become more technologically advanced, certifications such as SERMI are becoming essential for independent workshops to continue offering dealer-level services.

We're committed to investing in the future, ensuring our customers receive the highest standard of service while maintaining security and compliance every step of the way.

🚨 Audi Q7 – Low Oil Pressure Warning & Very Noisy Engine 🚨

This Audi Q7 arrived with an "Engine Oil Pressure Too Low"warning and an engine that was noticeably noisy.

Our initial inspection revealed the oil filter was packed with thick, black, lumpy sludge a clear sign that the engine oil had severely deteriorated over time. When oil reaches this condition, it can restrict oil flow, reduce lubrication, and potentially cause serious internal engine damage.

At this stage, the most cost-effective approach was to carry out an oil and filter change and assess whether oil pressure could be restored and whether the engine noise improved.

Unfortunately, the first oil change still produced heavily contaminated oil. The second oil change continued to flush out sludge and debris. It wasn't until the third oil and filter change that the oil finally stopped draining with visible clumps, the oil pressure warning light went out and the engine noise reduced slightly.

While this is a positive result, there is still a possibility that internal engine wear or damage has already occurred due to the poor condition of the oil. We've advised the customer to drive the vehicle for approximately **500–600 miles** before returning for another oil and filter change. We've also asked them to contact us immediately if they notice any changes in performance, unusual noises, warning lights, or other concerns.

Sometimes we catch these issues in time, and sometimes the damage has already been done. For now, we're staying optimistic and hopeful that we've managed to save this engine from a much more expensive repair.

πŸ’‘ Regular oil servicing isn't just about maintaining your vehicle's service historyβ€”it plays a critical role in protecting your engine and avoiding costly repairs.

When was the last time your engine oil was changed?

πŸš—πŸ’‘ DID YOU KNOW?πŸ’‘πŸš—

Most vehicle manufacturers recommend changing your **brake fluid every 2 years** – regardless of mileage.

"But my brakes feel fine..."

That's the tricky part. Brake fluid doesn't usually give obvious warning signs until a problem develops.

πŸ”§ Why does brake fluid need changing?

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it naturally absorbs moisture from the atmosphere over time.

As water content increases:

❌ The boiling point of the brake fluid drops
❌ Braking performance can be reduced under heavy braking
❌ Internal brake components can corrode
❌ ABS and stability control components can be damaged
❌ Expensive repairs can result

On modern vehicles, ABS pumps and hydraulic control units can cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds to replace.

🚨 In extreme situations, moisture-contaminated brake fluid can boil when the brakes get hot, creating air bubbles in the system. Air can be compressed, unlike brake fluid, leading to a soft brake pedal and reduced braking performance.

βœ… A brake fluid change is a relatively inexpensive maintenance item.
βœ… It helps protect critical braking components.
βœ… It keeps your braking system performing as the manufacturer intended.
βœ… Most manufacturers recommend it every 2 years, even if the vehicle has covered very few miles.

Don't wait until there's a problemβ€”preventative maintenance is always cheaper than repairs.

When was your brake fluid last changed?πŸ€”

πŸš— Making informed decisions starts with understanding your options.

One thing we firmly believe at Autowerks is that nobody should feel pressured into making a decision about their vehicle.

When a fault is found, our job isn't to sell you something. Our job is to explain what we've found, why it matters, what your options are, and the potential consequences of each choice.

Some repairs are urgent, some can wait, and some may simply need monitoring. Every customer and every situation is different.

We understand that vehicle repairs can be unexpected and sometimes overwhelming. That's why we take the time to answer questions, explain things in plain English, and give you the information you need to make the right decision for you.

There is no pressure from us.

We'll present the options, explain the pros and cons, and give you the time and space to digest the information. Whatever you decide, we'll support you and respect your choice.

Because great customer service isn't about selling repairs – it's about building trust. ❀️
