Why Standards Matter in our Industry.
In the driver training industry, we often talk about "Grade A" standards. For me, these aren't just labels, but a career-long commitment to the highest possible level of road safety and instructional quality.
Following my last DVSA inspection, I was proud to have maintained my ORDIT Grade A status with a score of 51/51.
While a score is just a snapshot of a single day, I believe in backing up instructional theory with practical skill. This has led me to maintain what some in our industry call the "Triple Crown" of qualifications:
• Instructional Level: DVSA ORDIT Grade A (51/51) — The maximum score for training other instructors.
• Driving Ability: DVSA Cardington Special Test (Grade A) — The highest driving grade awarded by the DVSA.
• Advanced Standards: RoSPA Gold — The highest civilian advanced driving qualification.
Holding these grades isn't about the titles; it's about ensuring that whether I am helping a learner get their licence or a fellow ADI prepare for their Standards Check, they are receiving training that meets the absolute ceiling of UK requirements.
Consistency and continuous development are what keep our roads safe.
I look forward to continuing to bring these standards to my trainees in the years to come.
