🔥 AUDI SQ5 — THROTTLE VALVE DELETE & STAGE 1 ECU/TCU CALIBRATION 🔥

This Audi SQ5 came to us suffering from repeated throttle valve calibration faults, causing the EML to illuminate and performance to become restricted.

We supplied and installed a Darkside Developments throttle valve delete, which fitted perfectly into the original OEM location.

Before tuning, we completed our usual pre-calibration inspection and discovered a couple of minor boost leaks caused by loose hoses. Once rectified, we carried out a bespoke Stage 1 ECU calibration and TCU gearbox calibration. After a couple of revisions, the SQ5 was performing exactly as it should. ✅

This tradesman arrived with his van after the air-conditioning suddenly stopped working.

The system contained the correct amount of refrigerant, so rather than simply regassing it, we carried out a full diagnosis and confirmed the A/C compressor had failed. After seeing the condition of the old unit, we weren’t surprised!

💉 THE S55’S NEXT EVOLUTION… METHANOL INJECTION! ❄️

The F2KPD M4 is already producing over 600 BHP, but this next upgrade isn’t simply about chasing a bigger dyno number…

It’s about making the S55 deliver stronger, safer and more consistent performance lap after lap. 🏁

The S55’s two mono-scroll turbochargers generate serious heat when running sustained boost. Even with our upgraded charge cooler, side coolers and heat exchanger, repeated full-load track driving can still push intake temperatures higher.
That’s where the new Coolingmist water/methanol injection system comes in.

This won’t be a basic single-nozzle installation…

💨 Charge-pipe injection will provide evaporative cooling after the charge-cooling system, helping reduce intake temperatures before the air reaches the engine.

💉 Six-cylinder direct-port injection will deliver the mixture individually into each intake runner, giving more balanced distribution across all six cylinders than relying solely on one nozzle upstream.

❄️ Lower combustion temperatures can reduce knock tendency and minimise the ignition-timing corrections that can occur when the S55 becomes heat-soaked.

⛽ Additional fuelling headroom will help support the factory direct-injection system at higher power levels. When correctly calibrated, methanol contributes towards the total fuel requirement rather than simply being used as a cooling spray.

🔥 Improved knock resistance gives us greater control over boost and ignition timing while maintaining a sensible safety margin under sustained track conditions.

BMW proved the principle on the S55-powered M4 GTS, which used factory water injection to lower intake temperatures, reduce knock tendency and increase the engine’s thermal performance limits.

TWO DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES 🛣️🏁

🛣️ ROAD MAP

A dedicated road calibration that will not depend on methanol delivery, allowing the car to be driven normally without the system being required to achieve the requested boost or ignition targets.

🏁 TRACK MAP

A separate meth-enabled calibration designed to utilise the cooling, knock resistance and supplementary fuelling when the engine is operating under sustained boost and load.

The system will include:

✅ Discreet boot-mounted tank
✅ Charge-pipe and direct-port injection
✅ Progressive delivery under boost
✅ Low-fluid and system-pressure monitoring
✅ Proper failsafe protection
✅ Switchable road and track calibrations

If pressure, flow or fluid level isn’t correct, the engine must immediately return to safer boost and ignition targets. On a meth-dependent calibration, failsafe protection isn’t optional—it’s essential.

This upgrade isn’t about creating one impressive dyno pull…

It’s about keeping the S55 cool, controlling knock and maintaining performance when the car is being pushed hard for an entire session.

The M4 is about to become even more track-focused. 😈

This F82 BMW M4 came into the F2KPD workshop for an upgraded performance oil cooler—but once the original cooler was removed, we discovered just how badly it was packed with dirt, leaves and road debris! 😳

With airflow heavily restricted, the original cooler couldn’t operate as efficiently as it should. The replacement performance oil cooler was supplied and installed

Mercedes C220 CDI W205 in for AdBlue faults + Stage 1 ECU calibration 😎

This Mercedes came into F2KPD with AdBlue system faults and the dreaded limited driving distance warning on the dash.

After diagnosing the issue, the customer requested our permanent AdBlue solution to eliminate the ongoing fault and get the vehicle back to being usable without the constant AdBlue problems.

Once completed, we then carried out a Stage 1 ECU calibration to safely improve performance while keeping the car smooth and reliable for everyday driving.

Vehicle: Mercedes C-Class W205 C220 CDI
Tool used: Autotuner
Tuning method: Bench tuning / ECU direct connection
ECU type: Delphi CRD3P

Before & After Figures:
Power: 170 BHP ➜ 220 BHP +50 BHP
