🔍 WHAT IS A WET TIMING BELT?
Unlike a conventional timing belt, which operates outside the engine, a wet timing belt runs inside the engine and is lubricated by the engine oil.
Over time, using the wrong oil, missing oil changes or neglecting maintenance can cause the belt material to deteriorate prematurely.
As the belt breaks down, tiny fragments of rubber can contaminate the engine oil and cause serious problems. 😟
⚠️ WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A WET TIMING BELT STARTS TO FAIL?
As you can see in the short video below, this is a recent wet timing belt replacement we carried out at M&S Auto Repairs.
The video shows fragments from the deteriorating belt completely blocking the oil pump strainer!
