Fractured coil spring. Due to poor design, the broken spring is able to pass the retaining cup and stab the tyre! 2nd picture shows correct fitment from other side.Fortunately, this happened at low speed. Imagine if the vehicle was travelling at 70mph on the motorway !
We replaced both front springs for safety's and balance sake.

Had car in 3 weeks ago for pre MOT check. Advised this was wise at 235,000 miles! A few minor repairs all good to test. Charged £35.
Upon presentation for test, it failed because diesel was leaking from the
Fuel tank! The customer had filled the tank a few days before test. When informed of the failure, they commented that, that must be the oil on the drive and garage floor. They very rarely fill the tank so it hadn't occurred previously.
New tank fitted and retested to pass MOT.

Another brilliant design!
Rear coil spring fractured.
To get to the 2 mounting bolts for the rear leg and spring (highlighted), two thirds of the rear interior including seating and panelling has to be removed. The lower mounting bolt was also seized in the bush. What could have been a straightforward job at a reasonable cost was transformed into a 5 hour marathon purely by poor design!

Citroen C3 with only 34000 miles.
This time of year when it's very cold, the springs become brittle. This combined with large potholes everywhere and the poor state of the roads, means we have replaced 8 springs already this year!

Quality hedge trimmer that would only just run on idle and would then cut out when revved up.
Carburettor gummed up with stale fuel.
Running like new now.

When you finish using a machine like this and are not using it for a while....
ALWAYS drain all the fuel out and then run the engine until it stops on its own.
When about to re-use, refill with FRESH fuel, prime and start normally. This way you avoid repair bills every year!
