🛢️ Do you know how to check your oil level?

It sounds simple… but when was the last time you actually checked it? 👀

Your car will happily carry on running until it really doesn’t — and by then, a low oil level can mean serious engine trouble. 😬

Especially before a long journey, take a couple of minutes to check:

🔧 Park on level ground
⏱️ Let the engine cool down
🛢️ Find the dipstick
👀 Wipe it, put it back in, then check the level
✅ Make sure it’s between the MIN and MAX marks

And remember… more isn’t better! Don’t overfill it.

Do you know how to check your tyre pressure?

And more importantly… do you know when you’ve got a heavy load? 👀

Kids, clothes, bedding, laptop, kitchen essentials… and somehow their entire bedroom has made it into the boot! 🤣

A fully loaded car can need different tyre pressures to your usual everyday driving — so check your vehicle handbook or the tyre pressure sticker before you set off.

And don’t forget to check all four tyres when they’re cold. 🛞

You’d expect a car only 18 months old to have plenty of life left in its brakes, wouldn’t you?

Well… this Fiesta came on for check up and we found the brakes needed attention.

After all that hot, sunny weather this summer, your windscreen wipers might not be feeling quite so happy now the rain has arrived! 😂

All that heat and sunshine can cause the rubber to **dry out, harden and crack** — and you’ll soon know about it when you need them most.

Is your handbrake suddenly coming up really high?

1 click… 2 clicks… 3… 4… are we going to the roof?! 😳😂

Before you panic, handbrakes can stretch and lose adjustment over time. The good news is, they can often be adjusted to bring the travel back down. 🔧

So if your handbrake feels a bit more like a lever in a forklift than a handbrake… it might be time to get it checked! 😆

🚨 IT LOOKED FINE… UNTIL WE LOOKED CLOSER 👀

This Corsa came in for its MOT on Thursday, and from the outside, the tyre didn't look particularly alarming.

But when we checked the inner sidewall… 😳

There was a nasty bulge in the sidewall that wasn't obvious from the outside.

A bulge like this can indicate damage to the tyre's internal structure and isn't something to ignore — it can potentially lead to sudden tyre failure.

👉 The important bit: Don't just look at the tread you can see. Tyres need checking all the way around, including the inside edge and sidewalls.

🔎 **HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THESE ON YOUR TYRES?** 🚗

Those little raised bars in the grooves of your tyre are called **wear indicators** — and they’re there for a reason!

As your tyre wears down, the tread gets closer and closer to these markers.

👉 When the tread is level with the wear indicator, **your tyre has reached 1.6mm**, which is the legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK.

But don’t wait until they’re completely level! Worn tyres can mean **less grip, poorer braking and reduced performance in the wet.** 🌧️
